Stayed here three nights, one night in building 5 and two in building 9. Building 9 is the Chinese 5 star offering. Building 5 is cheaper but really only 3 star. Restaurant is quite good and reasonable cost. While Chinese caters for a westerner at breakfast. Rooms maybe just starting to fray around the edges. Great parkland in which to...

Staff service was very good. Room were large, clean and very well maintained. Food in hotel was very reasonably priced. Hotel is a government sanctioned hotel which receives officials as we were told. Breakfast spread was primarily Chinese food.

En route between Datong and Pingyao we stopped for one night at the Jinci Hotel. The hotel is getting old but the rooms are pleasant. Even if only a few of the staff speaks English (Get your translation app ready!), the staff is nice and makes the best efforts for a pleasant stay. There is a very big park surrounding...

I would like to preface this review by saying we have lived in Mainland China for the past 5 years after having lived in Hong Kong for 8 years. We just arrived from Datong where we stayed at a very nice 4 star hotel for 240 rmb ($38.60) per night. This hotel has a 5 star award and was rated...

Lobby of hotel was beautiful and well maintained. Rooms were dated. Stained carpet and bathroom floors need to be replaced. Green mat in shower like the kind you would find in a gym. Good breakfast, big selection. Isolated location. If you can't enjoy the gardens, I'd find another place to stay. Looks like the grounds would be a beautiful walk...

The hotel complex is located in a big beautiful park, spread over 10 buildings. We booked this mainly because it had an inside swimmingpool, but China has very different habits when it comes to swim mixed. Further, a fine hotel, far away from the city, but with a very nice dining room, and a real good buffet. Taiyuan not a...

My wife and I Went to Taiyuan intending to seek out the local sites for a day and use it as a base while doing a day trip to Pingyao Ancient City. Our plans changed when we arrived at the Jinci Hotel. When we arrived nothing seemed extraordinary, in fact the front of the hotel looked a little dated and...

We have stayed in a number of 'Chinese' hotels over our year in China so far, this was by far the least welcoming. Granted, it was 11:00pm and I suspect the staff had already worked a long shift but these appeared to be the least tolerant of our limited Chinese and I don't think we saw a single smile. Not...

We didn't plan to stay over in Taiyuan during our trip to China. However, due to unavoidable train booking situation, we needed to spend a night there before catching our flight to Xian. After much research, we're glad that we chose Jinci Hotel. We booked 2 rooms and we were upgraded to its suites. The suites were huge and luxurious....
