We recently stayed at Kinigi Guesthouse when we went to see the gorillas. This was our experience: The staff was friendly and helpful. It was cold when we arrived and ordered coffee, which took a very long time to arrive - but the waiters humour all made up for this! We brought our own wine from South Africa which we...

We knew that staying at the Kinigi guesthouse would be a mixed bag, and we did not expect luxury. However, we were the only people at the place, and got a room with burned out bulbs and hot water that had to be manually turned on under the leaky sink (though no one told us that, and for a few...

I had there the worste night of my all trip around Rwanda. Extremely slow service (or no service). Mattress was so thin that I had the feeling to sleep on a wood bed. Bathroom (shower room) was like a bad dream. Really old, not working. This is really not a good place to stau, unless you want to experience Africa...

Very basic here the best thing is it is just across from the meeting place for Gorilla tracking, the rooms are very simple with very hard beds and little sitting area, the bathrooms are not very nice open shower that gets water everywhere and not very clean, but it is a simple place and well priced and placed. The housekeepers...

If Kinigi was not open, backpackers or budget travelers would have to find alternative accommodations in-town (25 mins from the Park). Its a decent lodge if your only staying a couple days. The mattress was hard for my taste. I didn't have my own transport to the park therefore I had to deal with taxi drivers to drive me to...

Quite expensive fro what was offered , extremely slow service , many food items on menu not available including at one stage milk for tea and coffee! ( despite a dairy 200 m up the road ) . All costs were prepaid and despite having this in writing we had to discuss this with staff each meal as they insisted...

this place is VERY cheap compared to other options in the area and it does not disappoint as long as you understand it is basic. Rooms are clean but spare. we had a TV in our room but our friends didn't. The food is fine again, keep expectations down. Grilled chicken and chips is way to go! Breakfast sustained us...

Stayed here in November 2013 for a visit to Volcanoes National Park. The guesthouse is run by the charity AASOFERWA (a non-profit, women's association) for women who were widowed and/or left with HIV infection after the genocide. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good. Beautiful views of the volcanoes. Just a couple of...

Stayed here in July 2013 and I agree with a couple previous posts that it is a very cute place. And yes, "it is basic and you get what you pay for, people need to be realistic and not complain about this place!" I stayed in the VIP room which had 2 huge bathrooms. Yes, there is some mold -...

Kinigi guesthouse is just around the corner of the entrance to the Parc National des Volcans. The rooms are outdated and very basic. The food was ok, but our diner was due to the buffet without heaters a bit cold. So if you need to be at the gate at 7 AM and you want to stay close at an...

“There weren't many rooms by the looks so any would be fine. If you are travelling in a group or family the VIP room might be ok with 2 bathrooms (1 with shower, 1 with tub), a "lounge" area, however, only 1 double bed.”
