We stayed three nights at Cocoa Village Guesthouse. First of all, it's quite a journey to get there so you shouldn't plan to go too much around. The place was made with a lot of imagination and taste and the manager works a lot to keep it in good shape, but it's not always enough. Our bungalows had many spider... More

What a delight to have a clean and silky lake to swim in and to play by, after a sweaty and dusty tour through Ghana. The hills embrase the lake, which gives about the same atmosphere as the lakes in Western Europe. But, looking back, the lodges and the restaurant are unmistakenly African. Very colourful and creative. Yes, the road... More

SO you might have seen some of my other reviews of places in Ghana and I can't emphasis how bad the roads are. From Kumasi you go to Abono on Lake Bosumtwi which is about 45 mins away. However, from there you go 5km south around the lake along a very rocky dirt track to Cocoa Beach lodge. We did... More

In the past we got a lot of complains on the last part of the road from Abono to Cocoa Village Guesthouse which is really in bad shape. It is about 5 km route which runs along the foot of the lake crater. Regarding road condition complains were entirely justified and we can completely understand our guest. As we don’t... More

We stayed two nights at Cocoa Village. The first night we were able to stay in a bungalow which was very comfortable. The room was simple but clean, the decor very unique. Mosquito netting, a must in Africa was excellent. The next day we hiked up the mountain with Matthias, a wonderful hike and beautiful view of the lake. The... More

Matthias is a great host and made us feel very welcome. We arrived late after an awful drive along a 4 km dirt track. Our driver was not amused at all. However, Matthias, one of the 2 Slovenian owners, was so charming and his lodge so pretty and pleasant that the six of us soon forgot the drive and settled... More

Dear guest, Our guesthouse is located in remote place which is very clear and obviously described on our web page, Facebook site and all previous reviews are pointed out exactly that. Our road even finished in the next village. Our road vary from one rainy season to another. We are in close contact all the time with local community charged... More

One of the nicest places to stay by the lake, with cosy bungalows, decent food and a proper beach! The Slovenian owners are very friendly and the place has a a relaxed backpackers' atmosphere. You'll be able to spot the lake's busy life as fishermen in canoes pass fishing, kids carry water or try to catch fish using nets by... More

This place has a great spot right on the Lake with beautiful views. We stayed in one of the dorm rooms, and they are basic and clean. In the morning you can sit and watch the fishermen on the water, quietly paddling across the lake to pick up their nets. It is a beautiful scene. Cocoa Village is run by... More
