We stayed as part of a over night visit to Mt Yasur with Air Taxi as the usual accomodation wasn't available. The room we stayed in was very very very basic, with tired bedding and towels that weren't very inviting! There was no mosquito net in place which also helps keep ants off the bed too. On the plus side,...

A group of 5 stayed in July 2016 whilst working on the local hospital, Hugh (owner) was an outstanding host, he helped us out with local contacts and organising some touristy things to do in our down time. Food was excellent, staff were superb, rooms were bang on and I would most definitely stay there again.

Only having 10 days in Vanuatu, a quick few days in Tanna was all I could do, the rooms were large clean and comfortable, Hugh was great and very helpful as were the rest of the staff. It is a great island to visit and to spend some time with the locals

We arrived at Tanna Lodge having booked and paid for our stay some weeks prior. Hugh the owner was not expecting us and had not prepared a room for us to stay in. Despite this, he was very accommodating at short notice and was able to organise a room for us and assist us to organise activities during our stay....

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Tanna Lodge. The room I had was quite large and was clean and comfortable. The staff and the owner make you feel most welcome and are always helpful. Located on a small bay, with excellent sunsets, the combination of good food and cold beer made my stay very enjoyable.

We have spent some months on Tanna, rebuilding churches and schools (now safe houses for future cyclones). During this time, we stayed in tents mostly, in the villages. In one village, we were told we were the first white people to set foot in their village! Many villages have no running water. Their toilets are holes in the ground, and...

We were hoping for a lodge as it was rated star wise and this was not the case in so many ways. We were very disappointed with this Lodge and can only imagine that in its day it must have been worth a stay, but certainly not as it is now and with poor attitude of the owner and some...

We unexpectedly ended up at Tanna Lodge after a mix-up with a booking elsewhere. Hugh (the owner) was expecting us for lunch, however not for the night. It was no problem to get a room ready for us, and arrange some lunch and dinner too. Our kids had a great time in the small bay just down from the lodge,...

Don’t visit Tanna Island with the expectation of luxury resorts and restaurants otherwise you will be disappointed. Tanna is mostly undeveloped with the majority of people still living the village life and living off the land. All of the roads on Tanna are dirt and sometimes very rough however the main road that runs along the east coast is currently...

The negatives: As the rest of the island, the road to the Lodge is bad, so not a good first impression. No hot water in our lodge, hot water system was out of order. No blanket , it was freezing the first night. If you are after luxury, this place is not it. We wanted to go to White Grass,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the Island of Tanna, only 35 minutes flying time from Port Vila and a little over one hour flying time from Noumea. Within close proximity to the main town and only 20 minutes drive from the airport. We are established in a very private sheltered bay amongst extensive gardens and lush tropical foliage, on 4 hectares of interestingly contoured land. The site is unique in its topography, including to the rear heavily vegetated cliffs with large scale caves and tunnels, inaccessible other than from the resort. The resort is nestled in a sheltered private bay and fronts directly onto a large area of sand beach enveloped on both sides by interesting rock formations and coral reefs. ... more   less
