We stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful time. Fran and Dan are great hosts whom you get to know well because most guests eat all of their meals at their hostal. The setting in the Yunguilla Valley valley is breathtaking, and their Hostal is very interesting and educational. The owners have used various sustainable farming methods to create 2.5...

Paul, Dan and I very much enjoyed getting to know the two of you. The work we do at the Santuario Hibiscus is an expression of our appreciation for this unique place on earth - to share it with people that are interested and appreciative is what makes us happy! We wish that the rest of your stay will bring...

I love the personal attention at Santuario Hibiscus. Great meals. Food is healthy and home-grown with attention to your eating preferences. Clean comfortable room and opportunity to get to know Yunguilla Valley which is especially good for hiking and bird-watching.

Thank you for visiting and bringing your friends! A fun little while to share a bit more of our experiences and thoughts! With the kind of produce this country offers cooking a tasty meal is a real joy! This area we live in offers a good opportunity to get to know the local way of life and enjoy the outdoors...

Though I only stayed for one night, I am already looking forward to return visits to this wonderful hosteria. The grounds are magnificent, the rooms are charming, and your host and hostess go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for. The Yunguilla valley is warm and lovely, and although the main "walk," is along the...

I have stayed with Fran and Dan three times, and I always want to come back. When you go there, you will be treated to the best home cooked food, walks on their tropical paradise property, and very comfortable beds. Since it is a small guest house with only 4 rooms, it feels more like a home than an Inn....

We stayed here between Christmas and New Year with our 2 kids. We all had a fantastic time. There is space in the grounds to play and to relax, to even escape your children to read a book when you need to! The house has been beautifully restored and furnished. The food was interesting, delicious and really enhanced the whole...

Thank you for taking time to give us your feedback - it is highly appreciated! Today made us think a lot about you - we harvested some oranges and picked lots of coffee - I am sure that would have been lots of fun for the kids! The dry days that you saw are gone and we are in the...

Three months travelling through Ecuador and Santuario Hibiscus could well be my favourite. Only an hour's scenic drive from Cuenca, the hosteria in the Yunguilla Valley is a blissful, picture perfect oasis surrounded by tropical fruit trees, vegetable gardens, beautiful flowers and plants as well as a small coffee plantation. And wait till you try the coffee! Owners Fran and...

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your stay at the Santuario Hibiscus. We tried to create just that - a place where people feel comfortable and relaxed! It makes us happy to hear when our guests say that they don't really want to leave - that means, we achieved our goal! Thank you again for staying with us and...

When we are asked about our trip to Ecuador, one of the first things that comes up is our stay with Fran and Dan at their lovely guesthouse, Santaurio Hibiscus. What a treat! Since the first part of our travels in northern Ecuador had been super (with Jamie of Let's go to Ecuador) and also relaxing, I had started to...

Dan and Fran were absolutely incredible hosts! We felt they were friends right from the start. The grounds were absolutely stunning and put us in a relaxing, peaceful mood. Santuario Hibiscus is a beautifully renovated Ecuadorian hacienda on 21/2 acres, replete with tropical fruit trees, coffee plants, and just about anything that grows. About five years ago, Dan and Franzika, the owners, turned a dilapidated hacienda into a modern, charming, comfortable B&B in the heart of the Yunguilla Valley. About an hours drive down hill from Cuenca, you will...
