Nice one night respite from hostels. Food was average. Lovely garden. I wonder if this hotel fills with bus tourists during high season. Peaceful. Up the hill from town, 15 minute walk to bus station.
Nice staff, but overall a place lacking charm by large empty spaces, old discoloured photographs, airco which can only be switched on somewhere else in the corridor, and greasy meals...all rather making us think of experience in the nineties in Russia. One of the poorest place we had during a five week road trip in Chile and Argentina but cheap..
We stayed here, not by choice, but because nearly everywhere else was full. However, it was gorgeous and it cost less than we expected given the facilities and amenities. It is right on the western edge of town so it is a 15 min hike to get anywhere; if you have a car, then no problem. Everything about this place spoke of good quality except for their driveway which somewhat resembled a natural garden – it needed a good gardener and someone to pull the weeds. But while this place was grand, inviting, nice atmosphere, and clean, it also had a strange empty feeling to it. It gave the impression that there was, at one time, a bigger plan that hadn’t materialized. The entire complex must have at least 3km of light blue curtains! Lovely all round.
We stayed at this hotel at the end of Dec. 2006 into Jan. 2007. We rented 3 rooms (one included an extra room for the kids) for a family reunion. We enjoyed our stay very much! They have a wonderful property to stroll as well as a wonderful games area in the basement including toys for younger kids, a ping pong table, and other table/board games. The chef was spectacular. We had a fabulous New Year's eve party there just for our family and the food was 5 stars. The chef there really understands cooking and actually enjoys and takes pride in what he does "aplauso para el cocinero!!". The breakfast spread every morning included all kinds of homemade pastries. We didn't know what to choose from first. The laundry service was a bit expensive but worth it for any delicate clothing you may have or if the laundrymat was closed. The staff was very polite and friendly. Our stay here made our family reunion a very memorable one. We traveled with two small children (3 and 5) and they felt very comfortable as well. The bathrooms were a little older which we did mention to staff. They said they are still in the remodel process and would be working on bathrooms next. It was also a very clean place with spectacular gardens. Don't forget to visit Via Christi which is right up the hill!! It incorporates different religious figures and local art. There is also great fly fishing in the area. …
Highly recommended - Great place, pretty gardens, superb food. 3 Course evening meal 35 pesos - superior double room 180 pesos, staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. From main road turn away from the Lake - Antartida Argentina (-) Handy for Lake Huechulfaquen & worth the drive on to Paimun & the walk to the waterfall - beware of the big black flies! The drive from Junin over the Tromen pass into Chile is spectacular - but unpaved. We returned over Pass Carirrine - very rough & I think the Border Control were shocked to see us in a VW Golf - a sturdier motor would have been much more sensible.
