A large hotel that manages to be charming at a good price. Rooms are not new but are well maintained & display considerable charm. Welcoming & efficient staff. Good breakfast. Our room on the river bank had lovely view. A short walk to the restaurants in the centre.
If you’re headed out to fish in Junin de Los Andes, be sure to stay here! Breakfast is hearty. The atmosphere is charming. Relaxing views out to the Rio Chimehuin make for an amazing way to end the day.
We stayed at Hosteria Chimehuin for one night before flying back to BA. We arrived after 10 after a long day of fishing - I had emailed to let them know we would be late and they had responded. We have limited Spanish, but there was someone there who spoke English well. The hotel is small and old but really classic and untouched - this is where all of the fishermen stayed in the early heyday of trout fishing in Argentina. The steak restaurant 3 blocks away is world class. The room was simple with 2 twin beds and a small bathroom. We were on the second story with a balcony overlooking a side channel of the Chimehuin feet away. With windows open at night the river sounds are perfect- the sounds from town silenced by bedtime. There is a breakfast served in the morning (mostly morning rolls and breads with butter and marmalade) but they even arranged to have homemade gluten free bread and rolls. The dining room is filled with pictures of men and women with giant trout from the Chimehuin Boca from the 70s and 80s - even if you don’t eat these pictures must me viewed. Few from US stay here. Authentic Argentinian hotel. …
The setting is charming and my first-floor room had a balcony overlooking the river. The town centre is quite close, as is the delightful riverside walk. I had a superior room but it (and the bathroom) was very basic. The furnishings were all old and dowdy. The wifi was intermittent but generally worked in the reception area. Breakfast was served at table, with a strong emphasis on sweet cakes!
My family and I stayed at Hosteria Chimehuin during our expedition to climb Volcan Lanin in December 2015. It was the right choice for several reasons. Location: Just minutes away from the center of Junin de los Andes, this quaint hotel is laid out next in a large garden next to the river. The view from the room is like a Monet painting with the weeping willow trees swaying in the distance. Divine. The ground are kept immaculate. Warmth & hospitality: When we returned exhausted from ascending Lanin, we were treated royally. Service: Mirta and Martin Julián arranged for dinner to be served in our room. Our late breakfast served the next day by Fabian was out of this world. The photos below set the scene.
