Stayed just for one night (wish it was longer) for a weekend hiking the brecon beacons. Gliffaes was perfect. Fantastic setting & grounds, helpful staff, really nice bedrooms (we had a "petite classic" room, but it was just right), fantastic food both for our evening meal, and the breakfast... Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Lovely welcoming staff, beautiful location to wander around. We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely relaxing time. Very interesting old property, staff made everyone feel very welcome. The grounds are superb and its a great location to explore the beacons.

Super Easter Sunday lunch in this beautiful hotel was a special treat. Excellent wine list and fab menu made this a very special occasion to spend with family and friends. Highly recommended. A walk around the grounds to see the trees and the views of the River Usk rounded off the afternoon nicely. Just a shame we weren't staying for...

Decided to go here for Sunday tea. The sandwiches are nice and a good selection as are the cakes. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The views are wonderful even though it was raining. The only unpleasant aspect was that the scones had lumps of bicarb in them. This meant there were those who had very nice scones whilst others...

Thank you for your review. I don't like the sound of your scones and shall definitely be looking into that to see what is going on. Thank you.

A really lovely hotel that I cannot fault. Professionally run & extremely well managed. Both the hotel & the gardens are well-loved and it shows as the whole place is immaculate. The staff are all charming & go out of their way to help & ensure you have a great holiday. An enchanting setting ensures peace & quiet except at...

Thank you for recognising the work that goes into keeping an old building and a large garden up to scratch, not everyone appreciates this fact.

We booked for dinner for two of us on a mid week night. The drive up to the hotel is beautiful and it is set in some stunning scenery. We arrived early and were shown the bar area where we had a pre-dinner drink in the conservatory. There was no rush and we chose our meal with plenty of time...

We booked for two nights, but staff failed to tell us that we needed to change rooms after the first night. Moving rooms would have been no problem whatsoever - we booked last minute - but the first we knew about it was when we returned to our room on the second day to find that all of our belongings...

As you rightly say - poor communication on our behalf, room moves are not uncommon in busy hotels and it should be standard procedure to inform guests to tell them when booking and to remind them of the room move when they check in. I apologise. Thank you for your other kind remarks.

The long drive to the hotel builds up the expectations, then there is a mixed feeling as there are beautiful gardens and location on one hand, but elements of concern where perhaps maintenance is lacking (entrance gate pillar knocked off, outside of building could do with decoration).....so you go to reception with a little bit of apprehension... Then it all...

Thank you for your kind words about Gliffaes and our staff. The top of the gate pillar was knocked off by a delivery truck recently and I am struggling to get hold of a machine to lift it back into place, but you are right it does the hotel no favours lying on the ground.

Fabulous setting with lovely views and gardens, which are very well kept. Took my two Children 12 & 9 to celebrate my birthday. Pre ordered ham sandwiches as I knew my boys wouldn't really eat the salmon etc . Slightly disappointed as they had to be returned as they where slightly stale. The reception staff where extremely polite as where...

Hmm, I think we could do better than this, I am sorry about the confusion over the sandwiches but I can confirm that we don't serve cheese sandwiches at tea normally. Glad you enjoyed it overall.

We stayed at Gliffaes from the 24th to the 27th March 2017 for our wedding anniversary. The hotel is really well located for walking in the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains but also for the super town of Crickhowell which has everything you need. The staff at the hotel were friendly and attentive and the room was light and well...
