We came for a long weekend away. Did two really lovely walks directly from the hotel so no need to use the car all weekend, also some lovely shops in the town for a little retail after you have had your post walk pint (or two). Our room was a decent size, clean and functional. The hotel is a bit...

We were staying at The Draen, a nearby B &B, and the hosts recommended this cosy hotel as a nice place for lunch, they weren't wrong. Importantly for me they had a good selection of proper bear, and served some really good food. The staff were very friendly and although we hadn't booked and the place was packed they organised...

This historical coaching Inn is in a fantastic location for walkers, cyclists and anyone wanting to explore the Brecons and coming back to warm, welcoming accommodation and excellent food. Good parking either at the rear of the Inn or close by. Excellent choice of rooms and facilities. Bar menu excellent. Dining brilliant - so booking usually necessary in advance.

For us this was our first trip to Wales. We came there for dinner twice. Its is a centuries' old Welsh pub in the centre of town, with good parking behind. There are several connected spaces, with ample place for eating and sitting in a pleasant setting. There is a large fireplace to sit by. We felt at home immediately,...

A sensible menu and excellent service in a lovely old coaching inn. Overseas tourists looking for a traditional "English pub" (albeit Welsh) would love it. Well worth going out of your way to visit. It suited us very well.

We were recommended to this restaurant for a good pub lunch and it was spot on! I wasn't very hungry and decided to have a starter salad (goats cheese, beetroot and walnut) for my main - it was huge! 3 different types of beetroot and a large portion of cheese, it tasted great with the balsamic dressing. My husband went...

Haven't been here for a couple of years & after yesterday's cheese sandwich I remember why. Had to send it back as bread was stale waitress acknowledged I was correct but didn't offer explanation.Husband had lasagne & it was fine. Lovely atmosphere but over priced for what it is. I think its living off its past good reputation but the...

Booked our table for 12.30 as the pub was fully booked two days ahead of our visit so obviously popular. We all had a starter and a main and there were no complaints about the food. None of the meals stood out as WOW but nice pub grub! We'll be back!

We were enchanted equally by the quality of textiles and food-ingredients! The Bear's medieval layout was matched by judiciously-selected items for decor and menu. Quiet, measured service and environment provided exactly what we needed to begin a tour of Wales. As well as sourcing many foods locally, The Bear also served the most delicious breakfast coffee. An abiding memory is...

We had a great lunch at the Bear on our way to N Wales - we're familiar with Crickhowell and have often passed through, but have not stopped at this hotel. We're glad we did - we had very good food in a lovely atmosphere, with a roaring fire and good service.
