Attended a convention. The room rate for dinner B&B was very reasonably priced. The hotel is a large Victorian pile, in bright green, with a higglety-piggelty layout and corridors everywhere. Room was large with comfortable beds and served purpose. Very promptly serviced each day. The lunch and tea buffet was acceptable, but not very appetising. Dinner on Saturday was somewhat...

What an experience. This place is an absolute gem.We did a trip advisor deal and the Metropole blew us away.It has a fantastic history all told Bayeux tapestry style along the walkway to the dining area. We've stayed in at least a dozen hotels with such deals but this was to us by far the best. Not only was the six course starter...

My 2nd stay here, and a very positive experience. Excellent service from all the staff we dealt with: breakfast waiting staff particularly friendly and efficient, and the events co-ordinator (to whom we spoke because we're bringing a group in a couple of months) gave a positive impression that our group will be looked after. Tea tray in room included several...

A cold wet February visit but the hotel was warm. The receptionist knew how long I was staying for as soon as I told her my name before even checking any paperwork, very impressive. Stayed in a superior room, nice walk in shower and large room, two chairs to sit in but no separate lighting in the sitting area which...

Booked the six course tasting menu, on a Travelzoo offer, what a fantastic experience, had the king size bedroom, very nice room, bathroom very good. The six course tasting menu was absolutely beautiful, the only fault I would find was the fillet steak was a little over cooked not a complaint because everything was just sublime, very very good would definitely return.

The family room was very spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and the large modern bathroom was fantastic. The spa was wonderfully relaxing for us all (my 3 year old daughter was allowed in the pool and really enjoyed it) and the facilities were top notch. The tasting menu was divine, particularly the fillet steak and crumble and in such a lovely...

Staff were very polite and welcoming. Food (evening meal and breakfast) was top rate. Room (classic double) was sparkling clean and more than adequate in terms of size. Pool was large enough to swim and nice and warm, with a lovely jacuzzi. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Will definitely be returning, as it couldn't be beaten for the price.

I stayed at the Metropole for work for the third or fourth time in February. All the staff, from reception to the restaurant and the porters were exceptionally good, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is a reminder of a somewhat grander age, with a splendid ballroom where we held our conference. The bedrooms are comfortable and mine had a...
