We booked the Ballachulish Hotel for our wedding dinner, I was a little apprehensive as we had eloped, just the two of us, I was worried about being sat in the middle of a restaurant but the staff had laid out a beautiful table, incredible views and although we were in the main area it felt very private. The food was absolutely delicious and the customer service/wait staff were exceptional. Thank you for helping us create such a memorable evening. We shall definitely be back and we highly recommended.

Excellent menu of crowd pleasers. Our food was piping hot and fresh, beautifully cooked and served with nice fresh vegetables. Stunning views from the restaurant. You could hear the crackling of the big log fire in the adjacent bar - it would warm the cockles of anyone's heart 💓

Had dinner at the hotel tonight and couldn’t fault it. The staff were really lovely and polite. Went for the chicken liver parfait for starter and the monkfish scampi and chips for main. Both were delicious and the portion sizes were fab. Would definitely come back.

We went in here for a lunch but found the menu uninspiring. Broccoli soup didn't inspire so we went for two other starters. The deep fried cauliflower appeared to be straight out of a packet and sadly missing much cauliflower it was tasteless. The Cajun dip was a pink mayonnaise - the pate was also tasteless and both were served with a few leaves of rocket with a drizzle of balsamic dressing. We couldn't face anything more and the restaurant had all the atmosphere of a school dinner hall. Really wish we hadn't bothered.

Thank you for posting a review of your visit to Ballachulish Hotel for lunch neviller_11. Details of our menu are given on our website but we are so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the menu options and the quality of the food. We are not clear if you raised this at the time of your visit as our team would have been able to assist, perhaps by offering alternative items for you. Your feedback has been shared with the Management Team at the hotel so that they are aware of your comments and can review this going forward. We can only hope that you may consider visiting us again the future, in spite of your disappointment on this occasion, and that we will have a further opportunity to impress.

It was really very poor. Old is fine but old and neglected isn’t. The menu in the dining room was awful. I mean really dreadful. For this type of accommodation at these prices it’s sad and unacceptable. The common areas are pretty shabby too. Curtains look filthy. But the dining room is really bad. Looks like a student refectory and the menu is woeful. Not a single fresh Scottish sea food dish on it and what was on it was more akin to a truck stop cafe. (Macaroni cheese for example) No idea where they’re getting the compliments on trip advisor from. Must be making them up. Everyone we spoke to while we were there were frantically looking for restaurants in the area to avoid having to eat in the dining room for a second time. The room was basic but we paid extra for a ‘feature’ room which meant we had an attic room postage stamp window view of mainly the bridge. We had heavy luggage and were offered no help up two flights of stairs. We understand COVID 19 is a concern but they had taken it to extremes and removed everything from the room and bathroom. This obviously to avoid having to replace things between guests and said they were following government guidelines. However we had stayed in several B&Bs prior to staying here and they had all adopted a more sensible approach while still adhering to social distancing and clean surfaces principles. My brother and his wife were in the adjacent room which hadn’t been cleaned and they found toe nail clippings on the bedside table. Reception did not offer to move them to another room. It’s a shame because the setting is lovely but the hotel is neglected. Wouldn’t stay there again if you paid me.

Many thanks for sharing your feedback on your stay Twopies1. We are indeed following Government guidelines and specific advice for the hospitality industry with regard to the facilities and amenities that we are able to offer currently. Where we can reduce the risk of infection by having certain systems in place, we do feel that this is for the benefit of all. We are also carrying out refurbishment throughout the hotel, although naturally a project of this size does take some time to complete. All of that said, we are so sorry to learn of your disappointment and, although we do understand that it is of little help to you now, will certainly ensure that the Management Team are aware of your feedback.
