Stayed in the lodge which is just under a mile from the pub (0.8 to be precise) & if you walk back I would suggest you bring a torch. The lodge was excellent in every way although beware the fire makes it very hot upstairs. Dinner / Breakfast in the pub were superb and my only complaint would be that...

One of our favourite and best Pubs in the area. Off the beaten track nestling between Tisbury and the Fontmell Estate. Plenty of frontage parking for those with limited mobility. The food is excellent and caters for all ages, the public bar with flag stone floor and large inglenook fireplace is a friendly noisy area for meeting friends. Theres a...

spent the night before and the night after my wedding at the Beckford Arms in Fonthill Gifford, Wiltshire, and it was wonderful. In fact it was so good we have booked to come back here for our first anniversary. We got married last June at the Larmer Tree Gardens near Salisbury – a perfect location. The gardens are beautiful and...

Have enjoyed previous stays at sister hotel, Talbot at Mells, First time at The Beckford. Very impressed with relaxed ambience, friendliness and professionalism of staff throughout our stay. Very well maintained with plenty of attention to detail extras such as fresh milk delivered to the room each morning. Lots of information on local walks and other activities (wellingtons available if...

We stayed at this hotel recently for 2 nights. Positives for the place was the great location – it was really nice to walk around the areas, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was good and the long list of films on the tv were a nice touch. But there were a few things from our stay that would make...

Hello Firstly let me say I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I think the reason for your complaint is very neatly summarised in your title. “felt like a pub first and a hotel second”. However this is also a neat summary of my response, because The Beckford is indeed very much a pub first...

The Beckford Arms was highly recommended by friends, and so chose to have my own family birthday lunch there. We were seated in the library, seven in total, a good sized table and the perfect setting for a private party, our host for the day was the excellent Danny that pulled it all together, we all agreed how fortunate we...

Our Family's absolute favourite! They come down from London to be with us, and are always so delighted to discover we have a lunch or dinner booking chez Beckford! Great atmosphere, lovely, accommodating staff, and fresh, excellent variety of beautifully cooked food! We are extremely fortunate to have them so close by! We usually book a taxi so we can...

Great pub in a really nice setting, friendly staff throughout. Fantastic roast dinner, highly recommend the Beckford Special to get a taste of all three meats. Really unique deserts too, great place to feed up on a Sunday!

We called in on the off chance of a Sunday lunch. Staff are really super helpful. The beef roast was probably the best I've ever eaten - rare 42 aged beef, fresh horseradish, crispy roast potatoes, fresh veg and a side of golden bubbling cauliflower cheese. £16.50 which is quite high for a roast but then it's not an average...
