We love this site, been camping in scotland for over 25 years and this has to be our favourite which is why we come back time after time. Walking along the beach at sunset is simply beautiful. Kids love running around the sand dunes...
After the really disappointing summer weather, I was intending to never holiday in the north again. However, October came and I had a week off so we decided to head to Sands as if always wanted to visit the area. We arrived late, the reception...More
Visit Sands about 4 times a year....just never get round to writing a review!
I just love this place. Always stay in the wigwams with my dog. Staff are friendly and helpful, shower blocks are always clean, and the wigwams themselves are just great.
Have stayed here several times. We love the location so close to the beach with its amazing views. Great facilities. Well maintained. Kids enjoyed the play area. My wife recommends cake from the barn. Highly recommended!
Of course a site on a beautiful beach is attractive, and The Sands certainly doesn't let you down. I particularly like the non-regimented layout even for electric hook-ups, with small clearings for circles on vans, some areas that are inaccessible to caravans, some without electric...More

Hi. Unsure about campfires, you'd have to ask the campsite. The campsite is based beside the beach in an area of outstanding natural beauty, there are loads of places to walk your dogs, just be careful of tics. You can get treatment beforehand so that they will just fall off, the one I use is Frontline. Tics can cause paralyses in dogs. The onsite cafe does takeaway food, if you are looking to eat there though I would suggest booking in advance as it is small and it fills up fast. There are loads of places to eat in Gairloch itself, including a chippy and chinese, although the chinese is incredibly expensive. There are also lots of places that let you take your dog too! I know the Old Inn does. Have a lovely holiday x
