Ate here twice over a week with different friends. The first time there were 4 of us, two had fish and chips which were huge and both declared delicious....much better than any they'd had in Whitby, and very light batter. I had poached chicken & a peppercorn sauce - lots of lovely veg as well. The portions are very generous...

Booked online on same day we were staying, think we surprised staff when we turned up. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room was freshly decorated and clean. Breakfast was huge and nicely cooked. Wasn't too keen on meat sharing platter for evening meal.

Four of us ate here Saturday evening, lovely fire on , nice a homely. I ate seafood platter that they kindly tweaked for me as I don't eat whitebait, huge portion. Hubby ate Steak - his words 'Superb!'...... our friends ate the homemade steak & ale pie , it was enormous..... then other ate Thai prawn curry which he said...

Have visited Staithes many times, a beautiful village. Usually stay in a cottage but stayed at The Captain Cook on this occasion for three nights. The room and views were excellent (room 4), clean, fresh décor. Stocked with everything you need including water, snacks and plenty toiletries. Great breakfast and vegetarians well catered for. We spent New year in the captain cook, couldn't fault the weekend at all. This place is a little gem Claire and the staff were perfect hosts and the room was really lovely, the food georgeous with plenty on the plate. Thanks to all who work there for giving us a really great new year, can't wait to book again...

Just come back from an overnight stay at the Captain Cook Inn at Staithes. The place has recently been refurbished and the rooms, the pub itself and the food are all of a high standard. We thought that we would be in for an enjoyable break until we tried to get some sleep around 11,30pm. This was made impossible by...

Stopped here for one night,great hotel great staff.josh was a top lad. Steak & ale pie best ever. Breakfast superb,room ace. Highly reccomended. Staithes is lovely,nice pint in the cod & lobster. Many thanks Us 2 & bert the singing dog

There are times when you need to aspire to haute cuisine dining; delicate palates, olfactory pleasantries, a presentation that would win a Turner Prize. My advice?Leave all that at the door. Walk 15 miles without breakfast. Lock yourself in a lift for the weekend. Then you might be able to finish your meal. This is food for the cold and...

The Captain Cook Inn sits in the top of the beautiful village of Staithes, situated on the Cleveland Way and only 10 miles to Whitby, its perfectly situated for all travellers. The Inn offers nine well appointed rooms, all en-suite, with TV, complementary refreshment trays and bathroom goodies. There is free parking for customers and free access to wi-fi. Customers have a choice of guest real ale's or can opt for our locally brewed Northern Navigator from the well stocked bar, which has been voted Winter Pub of the Season 15/16 by the local CAMRA group. Our menu is varied and we offer a 'specials' board along side our regular menu. Our freshly prepared food can be enjoyed either in the bar or in the elegent dining room, or indeed weather permitting alfresco! We also offer great Sunday Lunches every Sunday throughout the year. All our food is freshly prepared in our 5 star hygiene rated kitchen.
