The Pier is situated in the heart of Harwich old town over looking the harbour and the confluence of the Stour and Orwell estuaries. The hotel has 14 bedrooms, several looking out over the coast (a stay in the Mayflower suite is a must). Dine in the restaurant on the first floor with great views, enjoy fresh local seafood landed in the harbour opposite; in the summer (or if its warm enough) there are tables on the balcony which enables you to really savour your surroundings. Worth mentioning are the fabulous sunsets along the river Stour. The restaurant is open from 12 noon with the full menu available until the evening, there's also no need to book but call if you'd prefer to reserve a table. On the ground floor, you'll find the NAVYÄRD bar and terrace, famous for its gin library of 140 gins. The bar is open all day and serves breakfast and light lunch and in the evening is a popular meeting place.

We go to he Pier from time to time. It is part of the Milsom Hotel group - but for us a 22 mile drive. Last weekend we decided to visit again and were not disappointed. It was a warm sunny day (yes - a sunny day at last!!) and we were seated on the small terrace outside overlooking the quay. I chose octopus as a starter - which was historic. Then my wife and I chose monkfish and prawns in a nice sauce. I tell you, this dish would not have been out of place at Scotts, in Mayfair. At the risk of sounding "gushing" - it was truly sensational in taste and perfectly cooked. So much so, we are going back today (31st) to have the whole lot all over again. It is a bit out of the way - but really worth the effort. The quay is a nice place to stroll around before or after lunch.

Comfortable, clean and well maintained small hotel. The Staff were very friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. We stayed in the annexe which was quiet. The room was small but certainly big enough to move around easily and had space for an armchair. It also had a sea view. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with a good choice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and won’t hesitate to return.

Came to the Pier for a few days away, I had been to Harwich on many occasions previously but staying tied up on Halfpenny Pier, while sailing. The Pier was an excellent choice providing comfortable accommodation, nice linen and fluffy soft towels. We had a room on the front overlooking the river and the ongoing action. The room was not too big and not too small with a large double bed and a cosy lounge chair. There was adequate storage and facilities. There was a large modern bathroom with an overhead/over bath power shower. The hotel provided very nice bathroom accessories. The room was cleaned daily with renewed towels and refreshed tea and coffee. Included in the price was a complementary breakfast which was exceptional and freshly cooked to your liking. Due to COVID a buffet breakfast was not possible, however, what ever you requested was hand delivered to your table. Throughout our three night stay the staff were well organised, friendly and very Covid compliment. This was a comfortable stay and I would recommend the Pier for a vacation or business overnight. We also had an evening meal in the restaurant, which again was exceptional and of good quality and presentation. Thanks!

Stayed here for a night and it was excellent value. Room was clean and facilities good. We had access to a lovely lounge just across the road where there were complimentary soft drinks, tea and coffee. The coffee was great and the comfortable lounge a lovely pace to just chill. We ate in the attached restaurant which was a good experience and would recommend it. Room and an excellent breakfast £135
