We have just returned from a three-night stay at The Alexandra Hotel in Lyme Regis, circa 1735, and with a fascinating history. It has been sympathetically decorated and furnished. In the drawing room on the ground floor, there were lots of comfortable chairs, board games, plus books and magazines to read, whilst enjoying a coffee or cup of tea. This... More

A beautiful Georgian Hotel and restaurant located near to the centre of Lyme Regis with a very Pride & Prejudice atmosphere. We stopped for lunch in the Conservatory overlooking a beautiful lawned garden. My daughter and I had the lamb and it was perfection itself. Beautifully cooked and presented. Service was excellent and the waiter very attentive. We went back... More

Set very near the centre of the town, with great views over the famous Cobb harbour, this place is a delight. Outstanding staff, for whom nothing was too much effort - from the welcome, the show-around, the dinner service to the breakfast attention - quite outstanding. Lovely old building, dating from c1735 i think, sympathetically designed, with some great features,... More

Met some friends for lunch in the Hotel restaurant, could not fault the setting, service or quality of food but was really dissapointed in the quantity. Too much nouvelle cuisine presentation rather than sufficient to arrest an appetite !

The Alexandra sits on the cliffs above Lyme Regis giving easy - if hilly - access to both the beach and town. There are lovely gardens that provide spectacular views and a great place to just sit in and soak up the atmosphere. My wife has difficult dietary allergies/needs and the staff/chef did all they could to help being very... More

Just enjoyed a lovely short break in this beautiful hotel. Room 5 has the most amazing vista with a huge window to bring in the sunlight and the views of Lyme Regis. Meals in the restaurant were exceptionally good. Breakfast was served very quickly one day and very slowly the next! However we were not in a rush so this... More

A beautiful hotel high up in a magical setting overlooking the beach and the Cobb. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the food delicious. The combination of a lovely old building which has been tastefully decorated and modernised within walking distance of interesting little local shops, the fossil beach and everything else that Lyme has to offer make... Particularly a long boozy one like we had! Very good service indeed. We shared the seafood platter, only 2 oysters but nice and fresh. The crab beignets were delicious and the squid was perfectly cooked with a very good aioli. I would definitely recommend here particularly for a special occasion.

I am very impressed with the standard of the hotel , its decoration. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the over priced menu especially if you order " Lobster " there is none on your plate . I felt it was cheating the customer.

My husband and I visited earlier this year and were more than happy when we arrived to Lyme Regis. Having never done anything but have lunch in Lyme Regis. From the moment of arrival to packing the car up to leave we couldnt have been more relaxed or treated with such care. The staff were friendly, accommodating and nothing was... More
