Stayed one night. Had a terrific meal in the bar area with the dog. At breakfast they asked if he could have a sausage! Very comfortable bed, great location for Dartmoor walks around Castle Drogo. Everyone friendly and helpful.

Celebrated my 72nd last night. We dined in their bar and they Coped very well with our collective gluten free, lactose free and pescatarian diets. Friendly banter from our friends serving us all helped to make the evening a great success.

Stayed for the weekend and was very impressed with the entire stay, the staff, the food in the dining room and the room itself was excellent. From the welcome on arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble. The room was large and well equipped, the large bed extremely comfortable, lovely accessories in the bathroom. Bar Staff polite and happy...

We had a birthday meal here and it was a lovely evening. The French Onion soup was so good and the sticky toffee pudding was the best I've had! I have stayed in the hotel previously and the room was cosy, clean and well appointed. Very reasonably priced also.

Called in for lunch with my daughter and a bacon brie and cranberry paninis. It was excellent. It was a good size and well filled, served with French fries and salad. My daughter had a coke and I had a Cappuccino which could have had a bit more froth but was OK.

WE love the White Hart at Moretonhampstead, its just such a super place to go either to eat or stay. I just cannot think of anything to not like. The food is excellent, superbly cooked and beautifully presented with flair and imagination, we go to the White Hart on a regular basis and, over a number of years, have never...

The staff at the White Hart were helpful and good humoured. All the public rooms were comfortable and welcoming. Our room was spacious and everything was in good working order (even the sash window). The restaurant offered a choice of good food. Moretonhampstead is a lovely unspoiled little town with the White Hart at its centre. (look out for the...

Visited here on New Years Day for some dinner, we are from Kent and were recommended by a family member to visit here! It was a lovely fresh setting and I would love to stay here! We were welcomed by the friendly staff and seated in the reception where we were brought our drinks whilst our table was prepared. When...

The White Hart is not just extremely comfortable, with wonderful service and excellent food but the generosity of spirit in this charming little hotel made for a memorable stay. Tempting treats in the rooms, special little beds for the children, huge baths with a never ending supply of hot water, afternoon tea one day, mulled wine and mince pies the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The White Hart Hotel is a traditional old posting house at the centre of the small moorland town of Moretonhampstead set within the spectacular Dartmoor National Park. Under new ownership since early 2012, the White Hart Hotel dates back to 1639 and this historic Grade II listed building is being sympathetically refurbished to provide all modern comforts within a traditional setting. Our comfy sofa-filled lounge has a roaring log fire where you can relax and combine the delights of a traditional cream tea with the convenience of free wifi. An ideal base from which to explore this beautiful area of Devon, the White Hart has 20 well-appointed bedrooms in the main hotel and a further eight in a separate mews building. Our restaurant features the freshest local, seasonal produce cooked in a style that lets the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves. A free house, we stock a range of local real ales and have a handpicked wine list. DOGS - Dogs and Dartmoor go together. Dartmoor is great walking country and dogs are welcome everywhere in the hotel, except in the dining room. CYCLING - Dartmoor is a great area for cycling and we can offer secure bike storage, and have a drying room. SHOOTING - The area is popular for the sport of shooting and the Hotel is used regularly by shooting parties and we have a gun safe and have a drying room. GOLF - There are a number of good golf courses nearby and we can offer special rates with Bovey Castle Golf course, just 2 miles away, and Okehampton Golf Course, 12 miles away. ... more   less
