On the north edge of the town centre, only minutes walk to the main square. Basic but all the usual features, TV, kettle with coffee, tea biscuits, en- suite a liitle cramped but functional. Bed was ok and breakfast was as good as anywhere. The parking situation is solved with a municipal car park directly opposite arrive after 6:00 pm...

I called in with an American friend who is expecting three members of her family to visit in a couple of months. We were "greeted" by an elderly Mr. Grumpy who appeared to think we were something scraped off his shoe. I asked if I could show my friend around - we had gone in through the hotel/restaurant entrance -...

Staff could do more to be welcoming. Bed was terrible. Full breakfast good. No information about the hotel in the room. Strange shower. Bad carpeting. Charming exterior and interior, real genuine british historic feel in the dining room.

I stayed at the Tudor Rose at the weekend and was greeted by a young man who greeted me with a speech he must have given many times before and who did not look me in the eye once. The room, although very cheap, was in the 1970s part of the building and looked it. The décor in the bedroom...

Unfortunately my stay at this hotel was one in which I would not return. The owners telephone manner put me off before I'd even arrived and on arrival he was drinking a bottle if beer and vaguely pointed in the direction of my room. The rooms decor is dated which really let's the beautiful historic building down. Its such a...

Beautiful old building with all the quirky features you would expect. Don't visit if you want modern fittings. Having said that, it has all you need, except (bizarrely) a towel rail in the bathroom! Very friendly and helpful staff, getting in special dietary requirements for us. The only downside is the parking as you can't buy a ticket that lasts...

The situation is just off the main town centre, pay and display parking opposite, staff were very friendly and helpful, room was spotlessly clean, excellent choice of breakfasts, I had the full English and have paid £10 in other hotels and received less,ok the decor is a little tired, with a little money spent it could become an excellent hotel instead...

Would I stay at The Tudor Rose again? Most definitely! What it lacks in up to date furnishings and mod cons it makes up for in its history, its location and its wonderful, helpful, cheery staff. A family run business, the staff can't do enough for you and are so chatty. They make you feel incredibly welcome from the start....

The building is fabulous, however it is in need of some serious renovations. Charles the owner/manager (he did not introduce himself but I over heard him speaking to a workman) a little unfriendly we were not greeted and had to wait whilst he dealt with two different lots of workmen. He said he would show us to our room and...
