Returned to The Mead after it's total refurbishment. The new owners have done an amazing job. It still retains it's period charm but with a calm modern look. Bar area now warm and welcoming, with the cloakrooms warm now and very stylish. The lounge has lost the old people's home look and is now somewhere you would want to sit and relax. The stripped floors in the dining room seem to work and have not increased the noise level. Gone are the ugly pool and pond in the garden and the area outside has been tidied up along with the driveway to the hotel. The slight concern is that they have retained the old chef who had disappointed in the past. I understand Anna one of the new owners is also a chef, let us hope she keeps things in the kitchen mainly under her control. I can

We stayed at this hotel as part of a bed, breakfast and evening meal deal which was extremely good value. The hotel staff are very welcoming and attentive and the hotel itself is in a beautiful setting which must be lovely in better weather. Our room was very comfortable and clean but we thought the bathroom could do with some updating to make it even better. The food in the evening was very good, as was the breakfast. This is a lovely country house style hotel, definitely worth a visit.

My daughter and son in law took my husband and I away for a couple of days to this hotel, as they had stayed there several times before and highly rated it as one of their most favourite. The young lady Jenny is absolutely lovely, so welcoming and the young man on reception and serving us was also very good. Much positive to say about the staff. Food was excellent, some of the best I've had. The room was cold on arrival, and the little electric radiator did warm it up eventually but it could have been warmed ready. I was surprised there were no bathrobes provided. The Boleyn Suite was spacious and very nice but the bed was personally too hard for my husband and I, but that may be just preference. Although the staff and food were both wonderful, I felt the owners left

We booked last minute to stay here for our 1st wedding anniversary. We had a beautiful room with a balcony which over looked the gardens and had a jacuzzi bath. We spent the day walking round coltishall and watching people on boats on the broads. In the evening we booked to have a 3 course meal at the hotels restaurant. the food was fantastic. All 3 courses (though small) were rich, tasty and filling. The service was impeccable. The nights stay was costly, but nothing could be faulted.

We stayed at the Norfolk Mead as part of a 'Tickles' deal. We were asked if we would pay extra for the 8 course Valentines Meal and we agreed in advance. What a meal! Each course was fantastic and prepared by the superb Head Chef with loving care. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the Fruits de Mer was incredible - to say nothing of the sweets! The owners were delightful and welcoming, even though this is their last week there. Nothing was too much trouble even though they were all coping with a wedding party. Jenny is a treasure for the hotel. We hope the new owners know what fantastic staff they are inheriting. We will be back to check!
