Perfect location, lovely view, next to charming town, but the maintenance list goes on and on... Doorknobs are falling off, the sofa is unbearable and the mattress badly needs replacement. The dryer function in the washing machine is broken. Most importantly, the kitchen door constantly jams. In a fire, that is the fire exit, but we found it very hard...

It would be very difficult not to like this unique property and to savour the stunning views. Vivat Trust have done an amazing job restoring this wonderful cottage. It was warm, clean, set on the banks of the river Lune. Log fire, comfortable sofa and a romantic bedroom. Ideal for a romantic getaway. The lakes are on your doorstep. Kirkby...

I don't think we'd ever been somewhere so peaceful. All you can hear is the river and birdsong. The cottage is beautifully restored & has everything you need there. The bath is enormous & the bed comfy. Breakfast on the terrace surrounded by dozens (& dozens!) of birds was unforgettable. Welcome hamper was superb & cottage also fully stocked with...

Having read earlier comments on here, I wanted to take a moment to write that we have just returned from a truly wonderful weekend at Church Brow Cottage and the place - despite earlier comments - has been fully redecorated and was perfectly clean, warm and welcoming for our arrival. (The hamper on arrival being particularly welcoming!) In fact, I'd...

Good to be back at this heavenly (if a little quirky) place - like so many other folk we adore staying in this romantic idyll overlooking the majestic River Lune. Well done Vivat for your sympathetic conservation of a little gem in this beautiful area. We'll be back!

Quirky cottage great location-stayed there when it first opened ,went back for a special treat and was terribly disappointed. Housekeeping poor, decorative order poor -soft furnishings not clean. Visitors book contained similar comments. We were not advised of essential maintenance which was ongoing. Not the standard of luxury we were expecting to find- an expensive mistake

We have just come back from a week at Church Brow Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage is amazing, as is the garden. The stairs are quite challenging but no problem for a short break. The cottage is slightly shabby but this makes it all the more comfortable in our opinion. A lovely open fire makes the evenings very...

This is the second vivat property we've stayed in and it was just as perfect as the first. Although the paint on the stairs is a little 'tired and bashed' in places it is an excellent place to stay. The views are awesome and the fire really helped keep the place warm in the evening. The only word of caution...

We chose Church Brow Cottage for a three night honeymoon in early December 05 - it was a wonderful place to be, unique, historical and beautifully furnished. The Vivat Trust has done an excellent job in renovating the property whilst retaining it's special character. We enjoyed the quirky stone sprial staircase to the first floor living room and on up...

This tiny cottage is one of the most delightful places I have ever stayed. Kirkby Lonsdale is a great little town, with excellent shops, and there are excellent walks all around, ranging from riverside strolls to lengthy tramps over the hills of the Yorkshire Dales and the Howgills.
