Lovely characterful inn, friendly helpful staff, comfortable beds in good sized room. Hot chocolate and biscuits a nice touch. Dinner was tasty though pasta sauce was a little oily, making it extremely rich. Free parking and easy walk to train station. Only let down was the cooked breakfast, which we've now tried on two visits and each time could not...

Dingy room with filthy stained sticky carpet. I had to lay towels on the floor to walk on. Ordered a sandwich and it was stale and swimming in mayonnaise. The cleanliness was terrible. The bathroom was awful. The shower floor was a pool as soon as the shower was turned on. Paint was peeling off the walls and the ceiling...

Came here to eat only, maybe it was a bad day for the bar staff and waiters, food was average, as a group of 6 adults and 2 children, we ordered a variety of food, most was fine. The service however was shocking and not from people who were interested in return custom, the bar staff were unable interested in...

Went for Valentine's Day treat with my wife. Room an banks of the stream running past the hotel, was basic, but very comfortable. Staff and meals all excellent. We were able to take our young dog with us and the site was perfect for him too. Barman didn't know how to make the cocktail my wife wanted, but his colleague...

Really relaxed and homely environment. This was our second stay. We booked a superior room again which was in the courtyard. We requested to be moved to the main hotel as I wanted a room with a bath. The staff were very accommodating and friendly Our room was lovely and spacious with just the right amount of authentic charm. Loved...

Very disappointed. Came here for lunch not sure if I would bother again. Both our meals were of poor quality. They were luke warm even though they had been under the hot plate lamps for some time (you could see this because even the mushy peas had a dried up crust on them). My grilled tomato was burnt and my...

Stayed here on a Friday night. Ladies on reception were friendly and helpful. Our room (William and Mary) was across the courtyard, it was large, clean and very comfortable. Bathroom was also also clean. Our room was plenty warm enough and had a large window overlooking the courtyard. We were the only people eating in the restaurant that evening (7pm)...

We stayed for one night, got a good deal and were really looking forward to the stay. The check in was swift and very friendly. We went up to the room which was through a door and immediately hit by cold air, the room was chilly so we closed the curtains and put the radiator up to the highest setting....

We loved our 2 night stay here. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were very friendly and helpful. The room was so comfortable with a sofa & chairs. Great bathroom too. Breakfast was delicious and all very good value for money under the special deal with Old English Inns. If you do have a disability ask for...
