Hotel Perla Marina garners mixed reviews; while the staff's friendliness and the cleanliness of the spotless rooms are consistently praised, opinions diverge on other aspects. Many guests relish the hotel's idyllic beachfront location and the variety of breakfast options, yet some find the atmosphere lackluster and the decor outdated. Although the pools with sea views and efficient air conditioning are appreciated, the dated shower curtains and absence of in-room beverages have not gone unnoticed. The value proposition is debated, with comfortable accommodations for some contrasting with disappointment for others regarding room quality and views.

We stayed at this hotel for the weekend. We were allocated a room in the annex, which is across the road from the hotel, room comfortable but slightly dated. We were staying on a B&B basis, the breakfast was good with plenty of choice, lovely coffee. We really liked the location of the hotel, being on the beach plus easy walking to the Balcon de Europa and main part of the town. There is parking available at the hotel for €6 per 24 hours but the car park is not very easy to access. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I booked for one night a room with a sea view, we were given a room in the building on the other side of the road from the main building which still had a sea view but not as good as I was expecting. The room was of an adequate size and the bed was firm but very dated the bed covers were more of a 1970's look, there was a sheet, blanket and cover on the bed but the blanket on my wife's bed was torn along one edge. I did however have a good nights sleep. The bathroom was okay for size but again needed an update especially in the lighting. The shower over the bath was poor, pressure was a problem which kept varying and the temperature was not constant. We had a small balcony with a table and 2 chairs which again was okay. The only thing that was excellent was the breakfast which had an impressive choice of fruits, cold and hot food, breads and cereals. They do however need to have another coffee/tea dispenser as there was usually a queue. One other small point was the receptionist on arrival needs to smile when guests arrive, the two on booking out were full of smiles and thanked us for staying with them. For the price I was a bit underwhelmed and would not stay there again

Fabulous location in two blocks with an underground connection between both blocks. Hotel needs updating. Our room left a lot to be desired. We had a view of a wall , no balcony a sliding door with a barrier on front of the glass and we could barely see the sky, never mind the sea. There was an obstacle course en route to the bathroom two steps up and two down at the other end complete with sticky tape showing the steps. We had a solarium and pool on the fifth floor. Restaurant was pleasant , food was typical carvery food but nothing special. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

This is our third time staying here and we already want to come back! The hotel is in a perfect location right on the beach and only 10 minutes gentle stroll to Nerja old town centre and there are lots of lovely places to eat serving delicious food nearby. We don't care that the decor is a little tired, the rooms are spotless and cleaned daily. The beds are so comfortable and the air con very welcome. The breakfast caters for all and we particularly like the omelette made to order. The attached Rocamar cafeteria is great for a wide range of dishes for lunch at very reasonable prices and all the staff are so friendly and helpful - particular mention to Celia, Daniel and Antonio 😊.
We only ate in the hotel buffet restaurant on one evening and our only negative would be that the ambiance could be better - perhaps turn the main lighting down and put candles on the tables to differentiate from the breakfast experience? Also it would be helpful if the evening buffet menu was displayed on the notice board each evening.
Highly recommended ❤️

Located directly on the beach and a 10-15 minute walk to the centre. A sea view room is well worth the extra money and enjoy uninterrupted views of the ocean with a sunny orientation.

Stayed half board in low season and whereas the dinner options were functional they were limited. Breakfast had a decent spread including freshly made omelette to order and a variety of other hot and cold items on buffet.

Staying on the second floor of the building with the reception desk (there is an annex across the street) the room was clean and adequate but like a time warp from the 1980’s. The corridors on the higher floors seem to have been refreshed with new room doors etc but I was not inside a room

I had a hire car and whereas I think the hotel has its own car park, it is located on a street with free street parking and as it was low season I never had any problems getting parking on the street close by

An excellent location for this rather tired hotel. Officially rated 4* but I would guess this rating was some given several years ago. The place however is kept spotlessly clean and the staff are wonderful. Full marks there. The public areas are acceptable, though the pool rather small for such capacity.
The bedroom had a wonderful sea view, excellent air con but looking rather 1980's. Annoying that there is only one power socket on one side of the bed. Not much use if trying to charge 2 items. Equipped with a fridge (ineffective sadly) but there none the less. No tea/coffee facilities. Beds adequate though not a double as requested.
The bathroom takes me back to the 1970's. A flourescent strip light over the mirror, shower curtain and tarnished taps - Upgrade definitely needed.
Now the worst bit. Food and catering. One word. Abysmal. Breakfast nothing put pandemonium as it appears booking here includes breakfast. There's plenty of choice but queues for tea/coffee take at least 10 minute, similarly the bread has to be put through the machine 5 times and is still barely warm. You then have to sit on a table for four generally, the other couple complete strangers (what happened to social distancing)?
Worse still evening meal. Horrendous same food. Insipid, bland, repetitive, unimaginative. Just awful. The only food that was edible was something the chef(s) hadn't touched. Needless to say a waste of money.
Finally the car park. Unless you have a car thats a mini or smaller be extra careful. If you think Mercadona car parks are bad think again. All for the princely sum of €15 per night.
All in all a poor experience. As I said, location fabulous as are the staff but if you can't cater correctly then don't bother providing food and market yourself as 'room only'.

Room Tip: Don't bother staying half board. Parking expensive and 'awkward' Bring tea & coffee for the room.

Booked a package tried to get a sea view but booked up , in an annex building which is a bit run down . Room very dated , bathroom old shower head with a mind of its own and plastic curtain which stuck to you . Cleaning was very good. Plugs mirrors in room not user friendly tv should have been on wall not taking all dressing table up . Only booked breakfast lots of choice but not good quality . Also you had to keep to a set time . Only ever 2 staff in dining room tables piled up with dirty pots most of time had to set your own . Sones staff very nice and some very ignorant. Given picnic breakfast on last morning as we were leaving at 8am was inedible no water or warm drink no kettles in room either . Only good thing view from rooftop pool but that was looking a bit dirty on our day 3 . Would I stay again no chance

Just come back from a week in the Perla Marina. This was our third attempt as the holiday had been rebooked three times due to covid and the hotel being shut for Renovations..
I always read review before we go , i had mixed feeling after reading them . I have got to say that this was one of the best hoilday that we have ever been on. The hotel is set right on the beach, with amazing views . We were in room 367 which looked out over the pool with the most fabulous mountain views. My husband and I chose to go half board , there are three times for breakfast, so it is never overtly too busy . We chose the 9am slot, the food was lovely especially the freshly made omelette or pankcakes . We didnt have long queues for the toast or coffee machine either. There is alway plenty of choice at the evening meal too .
Now onto the rooms , our room was large and airy with a balcony, it even had a retractable washing line ! The room was absolutely spotless, with nice big comfy beds with the most amazingly white bed linen which was changed three times in our weeks stay as were the towels. There is a flat screen tv in the room too , which has BBC 1/2 plus ITV so ideal for anyone wanting to catch up on the soaps !
There are two pools , we tended to favour the rooftop one as it was so peaceful with fantastic views and again spotlessly clean . You are literally on the beach with this hotel , you walk down a few step and you are there ...ideal. Check out the piri piri prawns in the pool bar , to die for .
Everything is in easy walking distance from the Perla Marina , Nerja itself is such a laid back place , but still with plenty to see and do.
Every member of the Perla Marina staff that we met were lovely, nothing was to much trouble , happy smiling faces all around the hotel ,so it is not often that I say I want to go back to a place we have been on holiday, as the world is a big place with lots to see but we are definitely going back to the Perla Marina again and are already looking for spring next year. See you soon 🌞😎✈

Had a lovely time in Perla Marina. Staff were friendly with particular mention to the staff on reception who were always helpful and kind. Room cleaned daily. I liked that pool area didn't open till 10.00 which deters the crack of dawn sunbed towel hoggers. We had no problem getting sunbed any of the days as a result. It's a good 10-15min walk to Balcón de Europa which is main area for eating etc. however plenty of restaurants closer if u don't fancy the stroll. Would definitely come back.

Currently here on a long weekend break and pleasantly surprised by how much we like this hotel. Don't understand some of the previous bad reviews - this is a Spanish hotel which is decorated in local style. We had booked a seaview room and I wasn't happy with the view from the first one and the lovely lady on reception obligingly let me look at another one and choose which room I'd like. Very helpful. The room and entire hotel are spotlessly clean and the whole hotel has a fresh smell. Breakfast is fine, typical buffet but plenty of choice. Omelettes cooked freshly for you. Both pool areas are lovely with fabulous views out to sea. My only small complaint is that I really don't like shower curtains - screens would improve the bathrooms.

The evening meals are a buffet, but I would suggest you eat in different restaurants around Nerja as they have some excellent locations and views as well as the food.
