We’ve just returned from a fantastic seven night stay at this hotel. The amenities were first class but what gives it a real wow factor are the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for the team and they make your stay so enjoyable. We will definitely return.
I stayed here with family for 6 nights in Oct/Nov 2022. Without hesitating, our experience was at a level there will be no hesitation to return. We had a wonderful stay! A few items stand out from our stay - the exceptional staff/service, the amount of on-site activities/options, and comfortable room. Now, we came in late October, and the hotel seemed to be quiet - we were able to grab tables, visit the pool, book paddleball courts, etc. whenever we wanted. And while the weather was wonderful (mid 20’s), I can see that in the summer months the property must be quite busy. A few highlights: 1. The Staff - simply exceptional. Each of our interactions with the staff were nice and left us smiling. We’re fortunate to stay at Hilton properties often, and the staff here is one of the finest we’ve come across. Hat’s off to everyone at the front desk, restaurant staffs. The made us feel welcome! 2. Property - this is a large property, with many activities. We very much enjoyed the infinity pool, the paddleball courts, and the lounge chairs around the Med pool. There are many things to keep you busy on site, with a world-class gym facility, multiple pools, basketball, tennis and paddleball. 3. Room - our room (239) was great for my family of 3. We had a wonderful view towards the sea with two nice balconies, and plenty of space to crash each night (we didn’t spend much time inside the room). The amenities were very nice, with comfortable beds and bathroom facilities. And everything was well maintained and clean. 4. Area - look, you’re in Costa del Sol….it’s wonderful. Yes, the hotel sits on a steep hillside from the beachfront, but you can walk down, drive (if you can find parking), or take the hotel shuttle. We did not walk, as the hill was a bit steep for our child. ;) We enjoyed the immediate area, as well as Gibraltar, Malaga, Marbella, and Grenada to name a few. It was a mix of beach, boardwalks, sites, hiking, etc. 5. Food options - the morning buffet breakfast in Med was very nice, and we always walked away satisfied. We had dinner in Med one evening where I enjoyed the fresh sea bass, while the others raved about a seafood risotto dish (funny, that I wasn’t offered a bite!). We also had dinner one evening in Arara, which we enjoyed a nice view from the balcony. Dinner was okay, with my steak a bit chewy for my taste but I think very common for Spain. There are food options for everyone. The only item that I didn’t greatly enjoy was the WiFi, which was very poor/non-existent in our room, and not consistent in common areas of the hotel. I had some work, and our child had schoolwork to complete and the WiFi caused some issues. No reason to have WiFi challenges in these days, and the staff was fully aware of the issue, so it must be a common discussion. Look - we loved the property and the activities it allowed us to partake in - both within the property and in the broader region. Add to this an exceptional staff and we had a week for the memory books. Thank you Higueron Hotel. We hope to be back again soon. Jeremy…
Super hotel , great facilities, staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs Very clean and modern Great location from airport short distance Very hilly But there is a shuttle bus up and down to beach Looking forward to returning for another break
An overnight stay, to celebrate my best mate's birthday. Every member of staff were wreathed in smiles. The dinner in the Med Restaurant was the tastiest for many years, and the "birthday surprise" of cake and balloons on returning to the room was thoughtfully accompanied by a complimentary bottle of champagne. The following morning's breakfast was leisurely and delicious.
My first time in this nice 5 star hotel and beautiful rooms very quiet. good service and personnel .Very gentle Mario at reception and all very gentle people. Like the restaurant personnel and le salle.
Wow where do i start? Exceptional, excellent amazing professional staff, room, food, hotel and experience. Thank you all for making my husbands birthday experience memorable(not often do i see a hard grown man cry with joy). From Tania to everyone. Spa was beautiful infact everything was beautiful. I can't wait to come back. Can i give you like a million stars?
I went with my best friend for 5 days and we had a wonderful time. The pools are beautiful, the Michelin restaurant was really good (tasting menu) and we drank a lot of cocktails - the bar staff are VERY knowledgeable and helpful. The staff are friendly and the building is beautiful. The rooms are VERY spacious, we had a love/hate relationship with how open the bathroom and the fact that the tub is right opposite of the sofa. DEFINITELY great for a couple travelling together.
A short stay, but everything was perfect from the front desk to the restaurant to the room and the well kept pool and grounds. There are many hang out areas both inside and outside. The staff were accommodating and friendly throughout. Perfect stay
We stayed at the Higuerōn Hotel (Curio Collection by Hilton) from 18 December until 3 January 2023 (a total of 16 nights), which enabled us to gain an overall impression of the facilities, services and staff. On a positive note, we were highly content with receiving bubby and chocolates upon our arrival and on another occasion during the latter segment of our stay. We highly appreciated the complimentary bottled water. We were especially pleased with the housekeeping services and in particular Adela for her superb attention to detail. We also wish to thank Belinda in her role as breakfast hostess. She always warmly welcomed us with her positive personality. We also concur that the on-site breakfast manager was always extremely helpful. Overall, the breakfast was delicious and the variety of fresh fruit, breads, yogurts, meats, cheeses and pastries was amazing. The chefs who expertly prepared our omelettes were very pleasant. On some occasions, there were few tables that were cleaned and prepared and certain ingredients (no sliced fruit in jars; no chia seeds) were not replenished (which we suspect was likely due to the influx of multiple guests). We used the gym occasionally and the variety and quality of machinery improved the experience. One caveat is that we were not informed that a row of machines was designated exclusively for other clients, which was confusing for us as they did not function without access keys. There are several issues, however, which we addressed with the front desk personnel as well as the dedicated focal point on the right-hand side of the reception desk. Our issues were also conveyed to their female superior who was situated in a room behind reception. Prior to our arrival (and upon our arrival), we were not informed that there would be continuous* construction carried out surrounding the hotel. The loud noise started early in the morning until dusk. We could not sit out on our balcony due to the brash noise and we had to shut our door to block out some of the noise. When we chose your hotel, our foremost intention was to relax in a stunning and tranquil setting. We were quite surprised that no advance warning was communicated to us in such case. *With the exception of Christmas and New Years’ Eve holidays When we booked our reservation, we explicitly requested a quiet room situated on an upper floor. The fourth-floor room was not soundproof, and we could hear flushing toilets and running water throughout our stay, including a guest with a distinctly horrible, incessant cough. There were at least two families with children who were very noisy running around in the rooms above us and outside in the hallways. The noise was unnerving, and it would have augured well if the reservations of guests with families were coordinated better (given the sizeable capacity of rooms in the hotel). On many occasions, there was a lack of hot water in the shower and the bathtub, which incurred unnecessary inconveniences and frankly disappointment. A few technicians managed to fix the temperature of the bathtub on one occasion; however, the situation did not improve thereafter. Some days into our vacation, one of the elevators was under repair and could not be used up to our last day. As there were only two elevators to use to go to our room or exit the hotel, the lack of one functioning elevator incurred lengthy waiting periods and inconveniences. Another elevator close to the breakfast area also malfunctioned during our stay. We visited the spa on four separate occasions. We enjoyed the circuit of various jets which helped to soothe our muscles. However, the glass doors and windows overlooking the terrace were dirty (this issue was resolved following our complaint). The venue was overcrowded in the spa and in the changing rooms. On one occasion, there were no bathrobes or large towels available. I could not use the blow dryer in the changing room as it was in the possession of the personnel at the spa desk. There should have been at least two blow dryers available for use in the changing room (and not at the spa desk). Unlike many other five-star hotels, there was no tea/fruit station but instead a dated water cooler which did not function well. We also visited the salon in the hotel and the manicure service was unprofessional to say the least. The quality of the work effectuated was horrible and the nail polish chipped off within hours. The way in which the bookings were implemented for the Christmas Party and the New Years’ Eve Gala was unacceptable. Initially, I had sent an email to the reservations department to confirm our intention to attend both events. I was subsequently informed to contact the department to provide my credit card details. Following my confirmation over the telephone, a day or two prior to checking into the hotel, I was instructed to fill in forms with my credit card details and copies of my passport and to email the documentation to the reservations department (which is not in line with the EU GDPR privacy regulation). The rationale for providing information more than once made absolutely no sense. As we were arriving at the hotel on 18 December, it would have made more sense to confirm such details at such point and to avoid the inconvenience of back-and-forth telephone calls and emails. We were very pleased with the Christmas Party, which was well organised with excellent piano music throughout. The New Years’ Eve Gala, however, was neither organised nor coordinated well. When we arrived at the entrance, we were informed that we were not on the list, which was not only embarrassing but quite strange as we had reconfirmed and paid for the soiree well in advance! Furthermore, my husband had instructed the hotel staff regarding our desired seating earlier that day, yet they tried to seat us at another table elsewhere! The quality and quantity of the cuisine was incomparable to the meals served at the Christmas event. The music was underwhelming and the party favours which included plastic masks and whistles should be averted altogether as they are hazardous to the environment. …
I spend in the beginning of the new year a few days at the Higuerón Curio Hotel and it wasn't my first rodeo there. I liked it in the past and still like the hotel. The hotel is a beautiful and clean place, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. As a Diamond member of the Hilton loyalty program, I always got a room upgrade plus a little present on the room, when I arrive. The room has a spacious walk-in shower as well as a bath top. I like the little piece a chocolate you get for the night. Unfortunately, not many hotels do that anymore, but the Curio does. Great, I like that! This year there was a little mix up with a tour I booked and when I spoke to guest relations unfortunately all tours to Gibraltar were sold out. But Tanja and Samantha went that extra mile to get things sorted and at the end of the day we had the possibility to see Gibraltar and even got some strawberry with chocolate on the room. Loved it! We also liked the breakfast at the MED restaurant. A vast variety of food, all sorts of bread, fresh fruits and they make the omelet fresh right in front of you. I don't remember the name of the lady behind the counter, but she was extremely nice and even made me fresh pancakes. To be honest, all of the employees down there were nice, like Belinda at the reception - very friendly greeting and a brief chit chat so that you always feel welcomed. Or Alejandro, when the coffee machine didn't work he offered to make the cappuccino at this machine and his one tasted better than the one from the self-made machine so we took advantage of our knowledge and asked the next day, if he would do it again and no problem at all (hope I don't get him in trouble now). Same with Macarena - you need something, you ask and before you even have the chance to turn around, she is already on her way. Perfect service, nice people good food. What else are you looking for? (Well, if I have to look for something... I missed the whipped cream for the Belgian waffles, but my friend told me I am probably the only one that eats Belgian waffles with whipped cream and strawberry. But hey, I started with "If I have to look for something") One quick advise: If you are interested to go to the Spa - make an appointment upfront. I always try to book it while I am there and I never had a chance, because it is always fully booked. Guess I am not learning from my mistakes… Anyhow, if you are looking for a vacation at the Costa Del Sol - this is the place to be. Nothing more to say. And pretty soon I will make the reservation for next year, because for me it is the perfect spot.…
