We spent two nights here as attending a family wedding locally-unfortunately there were no rooms available at the venue. Lovely people own it and were very welcoming and helpful. The cooked breakfast was very good. There is a lovely view from one side of the house. Those are the positives. The negatives-The shower and hot tap take 3 minutes to warm up-in fairness, there was a notice advising us of this. The shower is so slow, absolutely nothing invigorating about it. There were the remnants of previous guests toiletries in the shower-who exactly is expected to use these? There were also toiletries from a hotel in a neighbouring town. The fixtures and fittings in the shower are rusty and the grout is falling off. I had real difficulty sleeping as the bed linen is washed in a detergent so strong, it felt toxic. I had to spray some of my perfume on it to try to detract form it.There was a plug in air freshener in the room which again was so strong, I had to remove it. The towels also smelt so strongly of the detergent too, I could not use them. The decor is very dated and the furniture in the bedrooms is shabby-not in a chic way. So, would I stay there again, absolutely not. But the people who run it were oh so nice, so it could be turned into something fantastic, if that is what they wanted. At the moment it is overpriced and underwhelming,

Our group of three spent our first night in Ireland at Butlers Byrne Guest House before beginning our Wicklow Way walk to Dublin. We were greeted by Gavin's father who offered us tea and biscuits and left us for the evening to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Guest House. The town of Aughrim was a short walk down the hill where we grabbed dinner before spending a quiet night in the comfortable Guest House. Gavin was there in the morning preparing a delicious breakfast for us before driving us to our Wicklow Way starting point at the Iron Bridge. He was kind enough to drive us first to the local market to pick up lunch supplies for our hike. We felt very welcome and comfortable here, and Gavin and his father were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and very, very quiet. We appreciated having a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast before a day of hiking. I highly recommend a stop here if you're on the Wicklow Way.

I was picked up from the Wicklow way by Gavin. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The BB is located close enough to town - a few minutes walk. Gavin is a wonderful host: from the pick up, through help I needed with a broken iPhone - he is tentative and ready to help.

The best B & B in the area! Great hosts we come every year gladly, he leads the accommodation with heart and makes every morning a wonderful breakfast. The beds are great, also a very good starting point for long and beautiful walks. We just feel very well cared for, there is nothing gavin does not make possible.

Funny story - my BFF and I were hiking the Wicklow Way, and we had arranged to be picked up at Iron Bridge. Gavin's father met up with us on the road, about half a kilometre or so from the bridge. It was rainy and a bit miserable and he really tried to coax us into the car but we refused... we were completing the ENTIRE Wicklow Way and were not going to cheat by being picked up early! So he waited patiently down the road for us to finish and then we were on our way. A good sport! The guest house was comfy and roomy and we had hot tea and cookies upon our arrival. Gavin pointed us in the direction of a great restaurant in town, and afterwards, with a quick phone call to his cell, he picked us immediately up, so that we would not have to walk the 15 minutes back after dark. The next morning we had a lovely home-cooked breakfast made-to-order, and then Gavin dropped us back off at Iron Bridge. Lovely stay and great area.
