How this hotel has gone downhill over the past year or more ! Went into the lounge for food last Wednesday evening. Almost deserted, no customers, which is a bad sign straight away. Furniture grubby, dirty tables, menus that have seen better days. First 2 choices we made were not available. We were told that the hotel was in the process of changing the menu ! Placed orders for starters and main courses. Waited 40 minutes, no sign of food. Up to bar to ask, told the kitchen were "prepping for a wedding tomorrow" ! Well good luck to anyone having their wedding in that place !!! After waiting another 5 minutes we decided to leave. Ended up going up the street to a lovely restaurant called The Grainstore. It was very busy which i suppose says it all ! Anyway, don't waste your time and sanity on Lawless' Hotel. Perhaps in the future it will change hands and will return to its former glory. Meanwhile, our advice is to steer well clear !…
We stopped in for dinner and to say the food and service was terrible is an understatement! A child with us asked for a bowl of soup it came out as a bowl of lumpy mush! When asked if that was the soup the server replied yes there’s a lot of extra potatoes in it today! We then had to wait 10 minutes for fresh roast beef to come, which we had no problem with. When it was ready it did not look like usual roast beef. The server cut each slice way way to thick. We then decided not to order and just get chips instead to keep us going for the time being. We then had another wait for the chips as the ones that were out had been sitting there all day. The server then told us that there was fresh soup ready if the child wanted it. This came out and looked like proper soup so we took it. We then asked did any bread come with it? The server said yes I will grab it for u. A few minutes later he returned and told us there was no fresh bread there was only slice pan. To say we were disgusted with the state of the place. We have been coming here for years and haven’t been in about a year and it has gone down hill massively! Be warned people and don’t waste time or money coming here!! …
Fined in here on a Sunday evening. There were only a smattering of tables occupied. Went for seafood chowder , kids sausage and chips and chicken tenders. Big portions - kids meal enough for an adult. Tenders were nice but very greasy, a sort of yellow artery clogging gloop surrounding the moist chicken. The chowder was bizarrely good with lots of fish and celery but very tasty. Was more like a stew than a soup as lacked any liquid base but was devoured and pretty satisfying in truth. Service friendly and staff plentiful. Enjoyable meal in a nice setting right on the bridge.
Avoid like the plague. Spent time in Holiday village. It used to be a lovely experience to eat at the hotel. Not any more. The chairs and tables are filthy. On the two occasions we visited, we were left waiting for menus and had to go to the bar for them. The menus were ragged and dirty looking. We ordered three dishes, two of which they didnt have! We waited up to one hour for the food to arrive. We put it down to a bad experience and decided to give it a try on another night. This was even worse! they had no pasta for children and no chicken curry. At this point we upped and left and we will not be returning anytime soon. Such a pity. It was a lovely hotel. Hopefully it will someday be returned to its former glory.
We were very disappointed with Lawless Hotel on our recent trip to Aughrim. We were staying in one of the houses in the holiday village and used to delight in going to lawless for a lovely meal but how things have changed. At first we noticed how dirty the chairs and tables were. The menus themselves even look dirty. When we tried to order they have nothing we wanted off the menu no beef enchiladas no pasta and no chicken curry why have it on the menu so? Then the real fun began...the wait on the food was 50 minutes and bear in mind this food wasnt even our food of choice! We had two young children who got very inpatient as you can imagine. It was a very unpleasant experience and I would advise anyone to avoid like the plague which is a real pity as it used to be such a gem.
