We stopped in at this Farmhouse B&B on our way traveling from Galway to Dublin. We chose it last minute, and phoned for availablitly, waiting to see how far we could get in our travels. This was our only Farmhouse B&B in Ireland, and although I was a little nervous because I had researched all our other stays extensively, this ended up being the prize of our vacation!! Mrs. Maxwell is quite simply the nicest woman in Ireland. Directions were easy--there are signs all along the way from the motorway. She also texted us directions as we neared, which was very helpful. We arrived at 9 p.m. and made to feel so very much at home We had two ensuite rooms that were extremely charming and well decorated, not to mention spotless. Yes, our sheets were even ironed! The children's room was especially spacious. Breakfast was an epic feast! All homemade and served in a large charming dining room. The gounds are so very, peaceful and pleasant, but the real joy of staying here is meeting Mrs. Maxwell. She was so friendly and delightful, talked with my children and made them feel special. She's the kind of person you meet for the first time but feel like you've known forever. Please choose this gem of a place if you are traveling between Dublin and Galway. You won't regret it.

The house itself was fine. It's an old fashioned farm house and our room was clean and spacious. What really stood out was the friendliness and hospitality of our hosts. The breakfast would also rival any 5 star hotel. We were just disappointed that we were too hung over to fully appreciate it!

I have been to Ireland 3 times now. I have stayed in over a dozen BB's there and this was by far the BEST place.

I arrived late by Irish standards, 9pm. It was raining and of course dark. With proper directions and following the signs posted along the roads, I was able to locate her farm house with no problem. She welcomed us in and showed us our room. She quickly fixed us some tea and a light snack.

Yes if you want to go for dinner you need to ride into a nearby town, which is about 8 miles away. This is Ireland, things are not close by. This is a country farm house, not a city loft in Dublin.

We requested a wake up, and sure enough right at 8am she came knocking. Breakfast was by far one of the best and you will not have a need for lunch after one of her breakfast layouts.

They have a sitting room with a piano and a tv and a seperate dinning room. The house is nicely decorated.

Keep in mind, this house is 300 years old. It has all the feeling of old Ireland. Yes there is a musty smell, but like I said it is 300 years old! IT is very clean.

If you are looking for new and fresh stay at the Hilton, but if you ask me, you don't go to Ireland for a Hilton Visit.

I would stay here again and again. Mary is a very sweet lady and will just make you feel right at home.

In two weeks of traveling around Ireland we met scores of wonderful and delightful people. None were more sweet and kind than our dear host, Mary at Woodlands Farm. She is not only a delightful person and ambassador for Ireland but she is an amazing cook and the breakfasts we had were the most wonderful of our trip. She takes a personal interest in her guests but never in an intrusive way. We simply loved her. Our rooms were wonderful and everything here was quite special. Mary was quite understanding as we showed up several hours later than planned due to being caught in a massive traffic jam. My day had become quite stressful as driving in Ireland was an adjustment for me anyway. I got myself stuck in traffic near Slane Castle due to a concert by Eminem. It took me several hours to get out of this mess and I really let this affect my mood. That all changed when we finally arrived at Woodlands Farm and met the most delightful host in Ireland! The stress just melted away. I heartily recommend a stay with Mary Maxwell at her wonderful Woodlands Farm.

We stayed for two nights over the May bank holiday. Mrs Maxwell was welcoming and gracious. Our room was lovely; clean, the bed was comfortable and the room had plenty of storage. The breakfast was amazing. The house itself is an old style farmhouse set back from the road but is in a beautiful setting and was perfect for our stay. Very peaceful. Excellent value for money, we will stay here again.

Really enjoyed our one night stay in the middle of Ireland farm country. Just off the highway about 45 min from Dublin but a world away in ambience. Mary was extremely gracious and her afternoon tea and morning breakfast were amazing. It must have taken her a half hour or more to put out all the goodies for breakfast and there were just my wife and I staying there. Wouderful old rambling house, 300+ years old. Must have been a wonderful place for Mary and her husband to raise her children! A bit off the beaten track but only a few minutes by car from civilization. Nice tips about local attractions. The bedroom was huge and absolutely amazing. Lots of cats and donkeys in the field. They were ever so friendly, came trotting over everytime we went up to the fence to greet us and be petted. Mary's scones were fantastic too. She even recommended a castle nearby that served dinner which we visited. Sad that we could only stay one night. Hope to go back and visit again in the next year or two.

I loved our brief stay at Woodlands Farm. The hosts were perfectly gracious and they made us feel very welcome from the afternoon we arrived to the morning we left. Breakfast was so good it would be worth going back for it alone

We had the best time at Woodlands Farm. The 300 year old farmhouse reminded me of my grandmother’s house when I was a girl. Our room was beautiful, spacious for the 4 of us and very comfortable. Every need was taken care of, the breakfast was delicious. My nephews went to the sitting room to watch the World Cup and our hostess Mrs. Maxwell, brought them snacks and had a lovely talk with them. The farm is beautiful and we all enjoyed the donkeys. Mrs. Maxwell gave us suggestions on places to visit which we did. We enjoyed a tour of the Killbeggan Distillery, lunch at the New Forest Golf Club and a lovely dinner at Tyrrellspass Castle. We did a scavenger hunt through the garden at Tullynally Castle. Would definitely stay there again!!

This being our second whirlwind driving trip in an attempt to see all we could, we decided to select a quiet B&B in the country for a night to relax. Day 5 we discovered Woodlands Farm with charming proprietors and their entertaining donkeys. If you are searching for something genuine, this is it. It is easy to locate if you look for the well-placed signs on the roads leading to the area. Mary is a beautiful, welcoming lady who provides all the amenities you hope for at a B&B, and you will be astonished at what she sets for breakfast. During breakfast the donkeys raced past the windows as they were moved to a different pasture and it was a delight to see. Later we found Willie tending to the donkeys and had an interesting discussion about his upbringing in Ireland. Mary recommended a restaurant located in a castle ruin about a 30 minute drive away, and we found it to be reasonably priced and an abundance of tasty portions. There is also a walking trail very close to this home but we were not there long enough to enjoy it. Remember if you go that this is an historically old home in the country. If you require modern, and a pub on every corner, this is not the place for you. But if you want to meet a truly wonderful Irish couple and be welcomed into their family farm home, this is a MUST DO on your list.

We were welcomed wholeheartedly by Mary when we arrived. Our room was large with a view of the beautiful courtyard. Mary has thought of every detail to make your stay cozy. Beautiful linens and even bed warmers.
