Travellers' Choice
Gleeson’s Roscommon is that most authentic of hospitality establishments – a fine historic building lovingly restored and maintained. It’s a family business, established by Eamonn and Mary Gleeson and now managed by their daughter Cáit. It is run with guests in mind and is beautifully appointed yet comfortable and welcoming to all. At Gleeson’s the ‘fáilte’ is genuine. The 150 year old townhouse comprises 19 bedrooms, a café, Manse Restaurant, function room and conference room. Gleeson’s also offer an outside catering service. Head Chef Kieran Brennan has created exceptional menus using the best of local produce including organic lamb from Gleeson’s own family farm, quality beef from local butcher Tommy Madden, free range chicken from Ray Gannon, organic Gannon’s Eggs, organic salad leaves from Mill House Farm and award-winning puddings from Kelly’s Butchers Newport. The herbs are fresh from the garden, grown by Mary Gleeson. The extensive wine list features a variety of organic and exclusive wines available to us from smaller artisan vineyards. The newly refurbished Manse Restaurant features original paintings from local artist Rita Oates including a specially commissioned, dramatic large artwork. The new Whiskey Bar is a wonderful way to learn about the fascinating world of whiskey through tastings and tips.

The first photo is the picture on their website of what they ‘provide’. The second is what we actually got for breakfast. That was all of it. Overpriced hotel who don’t really care about their guests but rely on ‘reputation’.

Had a lovely stay here. This is a pet friendly hotel .We had a small dog with us and of course the dog is not allowed in the resturant or cafe but you can sit outside or in the foyer and the staff will serve you there. The food was delicious especially the deserts. The bread and butter pudding was amazing. The staff members that were serving us were very friendly and attentive. However the cleaning staff were not so diligent .There was no toilet roll the toilet bins were not emptied and the cups that we used for tea were not washed . I have to say that the receptionist Gillian is a credit to you From the moment we entered  She couldnt do enough for us . She was always smiling and the minute you came down for breakfast you would get a good morning from her .She solved the problem we had immediately.

Dear Freshokeefe ..Thanks for taking the time to email us, and to do a TripAdvisor Review. We really appreciate your lovely comments. I’m glad the cleaning issue was sorted out by Jillian without delay and I’d like to apologise for it happening in the first place. I hope you, and your dog, will stay with us again and look forward to meeting you then. With very best wishes, Eamonn Gleeson

Fireplace, thick carpets, homely atmosphere and the best lamb stew in town. You should definitely stay at this hotel. And you should go for the 3-glass whiskey tasting in the bar as these guys have the best selection of local whiskeys in town (The Bridge is from Lough Ree 13 km down the road). So this review is about why you should NOT spend extra on a suite. We stayed in the Harrison Suite - which was not worth the fuss (and the significant extra spend). Go for a twin bed room instead so you don't have to share a double duvet. Also, mind you the suites are facing the new town square which is where all the traffic, Saturday hunking horns & happy people are passing by - as well as where (smoking) guests enjoy a lively debate. The other rooms face an alley with no people. The suite mattress has had better days - many many days ago: If you weigh more than 80 kgs you will feel way too heavy and as you have to turn often due to the pain in your back & butt, the bed frame and mattress noisily complains that you really are not a lightweight. The extra space you get is not worth it: The restaurant and bar area is way nicer to sit and unwind - and enjoy the whiskeys. Breakfast is great - and the restaurant has a great menu of (very affordable) dinner dishes.

Room Tip: Twin bed room - the suites are more noise-risky and not worth the extra cost

Just came back from our visit to to Roscommon to see family. It was our first stay at this hotel, couldn't recommend enough, all the staff were lovely. The room was lovely, we have a 2 year old so was perfect for us 3. Lovely breakfast too! We was able to use the car park but to b we honest it's so central you can happily walk around the town so it's perfect location. Also had a lovely park just a couple of doors down from the hotel which my daughter loved. Definitely recommend a stay there.
