When we arrived, we were allowed to check in early to one of our rooms and we did because we thought we could leave our bags there. When we went into the room, it was obvious that it hadn’t been cleaned yet. The bed was unmade and there were empty water bottles lying around. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned yet either. We handed back the key and informed staff of the situation. We checked in again later in the day, and later on that night when we returned to our rooms, I noticed in my room that the bathroom filled with the stench of sewage whenever the toilet was flushed, the bulb in the bedside lamp was blown, there was no toilet paper in the dispenser, the tiles in the shower were mouldy, and there were no hangers in the wardrobe. The duvet did not have a cover on it. As the restaurant and front desk were closed by the time we discovered these problems, there was no-one around to fix them. I would only recommend this place if you’re absolutely desperate.…
Second time staying here, can't fault it, great staff, including the Manager Dinesh, its great value, in a great central location, rooms are a little dated, but at the price, perfect, clean etc, breakfast was lovely as well, I would definitely recommend Jwcksons
I was there with mu husband this evening. The restaurant is so well laid out and the staff couldn't be nicer. Brilliant menu so much to choose from. Food and service was excellent we will def be going back again.
Stayed her for one night in October 2019. The restaurant and bar looked really good and that's where we checked in - it all went downhill from there. Our room was on the 1st floor, the stairwell and fire door were dark and dingy and the room was a throwback to the 70's/80s and not in a good way as it didn't look as it it got a lick of paint since then. The furniture cheap and damaged, the carpet was stained and grimy and the bedside lamp was torn and broken. No heat in the room despite asking twice for it to be turned on. I don't know what the owners are thinking, do they not realize that people are used to and expect more in this day and age, its such a shame as it's a nice building and with the right people running it- it could be full of charm. The customers photos are a true reflection of the rooms, the owners are a million miles away from reality - so check the photos out first. On a positive note, the bed was clean and comfortable, otherwise we would have left - and we got a good sleep. As I said it Cheap but NOT at all cheerful…
Lovely location and car parking easy, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast and other meals taken here were very good. The rooms themselves however were very basic, but okay for a short stay, beds were comfy and clean but rooms in great need of updating.
Went here with extended family and enjoyed some great food, drinks and service. Nice setting and a good menu that we were able to discuss as we had some varying allergies within the group. The Lamb Shank I had was enormous.
Jacksons is ideally situated in the town centre, on arrival staff at the restaurant side were very friendly Nd helpful it's a shame the guest house side does not comply to the same standards. We had to fight through 2 fire doors and a dodgy lick before entering the bedroom and oh my lord what a let down it was, it was dirty, smelly, covered in dust, stains everywhere Nd marks on the walls, the curtains alone have seen better days. We were there just 1 night and I went down with a dust allergy which totally spoiled the holiday as I was unable to do things things we had planned as was so poorly. Please improve your room standards and get cleaners that know how to clean as our room certainly would not pass any imspection. Advice to all wishing to stay in Roscommon avoid Jacksons. The food in the restaurant was lovely shame the rooms did not comply to the same standards. Thank you for spoiling my birthday celebrations Jacksons …
Enjoyed a lovely evening meal here recently. The food is excellent the flavours are just beautiful. Great selection on the menu. The brown bread and salsa is a very tasty touch. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. The interior is well designed and you cannot overheard other diners conversations. It’s in excellent location. It’s been a long time since I have been to as a nice a spot or have had a meal as good. Keep up the good work all. See you soon again.
My family we're returning from two night family holiday and decided to have meal on way home what a surprise on my door step .we had no resuvation 2adults 3 children with alot of special diatary requirements. kids asked for dishes not on menu and manager said he would do his best he certainly did he delivered on food service and value highlight of family holiday .Lisa staff was also very nice and did her best to please everyone and she answered alot of questions from one of my kids .def will be back thank you staff for going the extra mile to make our evening special .
Best bits... great location, friendly staff and excellent evening meal, lovely smart restaurant, Room 2 overlooking the square is a good sized room with large comfy bed, decent shower room, nice furniture, lovely period sash windows and high ceilings...in fact it has the potential of being very classy. Bad bits,....very heavily stained carpet, scuffed dirty walls and light switches make it look very neglected it also lacked some general maintenance like the dodgy flush on the loo and the filling of unsightly old wall fitting drill holes and then the replacement of the small old portableTV (with just 2 stations and a broken remote control) and torn bedside lampshade.
