I had to visit Carrickmacross for a funeral. I chose to stay in the Nuremore Hotel and was glad I did. All the staff were amazing and helpful. Evening food and breakfast was amazing. Can not find any fault

We selected Nuremore Hotel as somewhere to meet family when travelling from Donegal to Dublin. The grounds are fabulous and the service is very good too. Its very basic but comfortable, wouldn't; completely rule out going again but would need to have a price point to match the hotel. Swimming pool was great for kids, kids had their own little shallow section, which was great plus pointt.

Overall good stay in hotel, the room was lovely and spacious and the swimming pool etc were lovely plus lovely setting and walks around the hotel. However, one problem was there no hot water in the shower and the heating was on full blast all night & unable to turn them off. This made the room very stuffy as the window only barely opened up. Unfortunately we were unable to sleep throughout the night as so uncomfortabe. In saying that I would recommend it and go back.

Calling this place FawltyTowers.IE. as anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Tired rooms with no soundproofing. Stained sheets, stained ceilings. Ancient furniture somebody's granny must have donated. I only put 'holiday' in Google description as it didn't offer a 'disaster' category. Had to move rooms twice, in the first case because somebody next door left their toilet air conditioner on in the night and disturbed the sleep. Why would they do that, we were asked at reception, as if we were expected to come up with some sort of psychological analysis of the people in the next room. Well, we can't tell you why they would do that, but they did it, so can we move rooms, please? Like, we're not asking to move rooms for fun here. Moved to a supposedly quiet part of the hotel and just settling down for a nap when a door slams loudly in next room. Later on, no water for the shower. Was told the water was off because some work was being done. When shower finally came on it was cold to lukewarm. Jacuzzi not working in leisure centre. But, what the hell, who actually needs a leisure centre or a gym when you can move luggage so often? The online menu did not match the reality, as it wasn't available, but it was still up on their website as if it was. Table service good, but any eating experience spoiled by the sort of run of the mill fare you put up with from a hillbilly motorway diner. Burger with outdated lettuce clearly their idea of a specialty. Be sure to take your indigestion tablets, and don't expect apologies for any inconvenience in this place. Had the thundering gall to charge full payment after a miserable stay. Only thing missing was Manuel.

My husband and I have just returned from our 3rd (and now last) visit to the Nuremore Hotel. We had been hoping that we had found our place to escape and unwind from day to day pressures having really enjoyed our previous visits but were totally disappointed. As on the previous visits, the majority of the staff were helpful, friendly and polite but sadly this was all that was good about the stay. We were on a dinner, B&B package and although we had thoroughly enjoyed our meals on previous stays, we had double checked the menu online before our stay to make sure that there were choices that catered for our dietary restrictions. This menu is still online at the time of writing this review! We were therefore shocked to discover that not only had the menu been significantly cut back but that ALL of the main courses contain wheat which I am allergic to. On the 1st night I therefore had to settle for a dry meal of plain chicken, chips and vegetables - hardly fitting for a 4 star hotel meal. The staff at reception arranged for a stir fry for the 2nd evening which was enjoyable - but so embarrassing to have to have this arranged by reception. Breakfast was not as good as previous stays either - no longer a freshly cooked to order choice from the breakfast menu but just a self service buffet. The hot food looked dry and things like tomatoes were right next to wheat items like white sausage. Then we had to change rooms not once but twice due to noise from neighbouring rooms. We moved our luggage to the second room which only had one room next door which we had been told was currently vacant as we had requested to move to a quiet area. We needed to shower and wanted a couple of hours to catch up on lost sleep from the previous night. Not possible! First of all the shower wasn't working. Apparently some plumbing was being done and the water was off for about an hour. After it finally came back on we tried to settle down only to be disturbed a few minutes later by loud noises from the adjoining room. Dismayed to realise that on the 4th floor the walls are paper thin with no sound proofing at all unlike on the lower floors. At this point we really felt like just returning home but were so exhausted we ended up accepting a 2nd replacement room, this time an executive room. This was comfortable and quiet but still not really satisfactory given that the shower wasn't working properly - even on the highest setting the water was barely lukewarm. We had booked this stay at the last minute in order to try to relax and unwind from a stressful situation at home but we ended up feeling even more exhausted and stressed. The overall feel of the hotel is now one of falling standards (including decor as previous reviewers have mentioned) and poor food.

My wife & I have just this evening returned from another 2 night stay at the Nuremore Hotel. As you can gather, if its another stay, then the first was good Yes, our first stay was excellent, it was 2 months ago at the end of March 2022. We really had no issues at all. Yes, the hotel is dated but we prefer the "old look" rather than the modern minimalist decor of modern hotels The lobby area is quite big and has a number of very comfortable armchairs to relax in. Although the curtains and decor are "old-ish" it was a pleasant way to send an hour or two looking out over the well manicured grounds On this visit, our room allocated had a really large double bed in it, the room was well appointed but we were not too enamored with the height that the flat screen TV was affixed to the wall Without a shadow of a doubt, the one big plus that the Nuremore has going for it, are the staff. They are extremely friendly, professional and a delight to deal with. It's been a long time since I dealt with reception, restaurant & bar staff that were so friendly, in fact one of the guys in the bar even remembered where my wife worked .. you might think this a small issue, but it gave us a sense of "belonging" when staff remember small details like this And, now onto the "poor".... On our last visit we found the food to be of excellent value and quality. It was always tasty and well presented, in fact an absolute delight to dine on. However, on this visit we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food, we both debated it and reckon that the hotel either has changed its chefs and / or changed its suppliers because it was really poor To add insult to injury, the hotel has increased its prices from 2 months ago. Now, I know there is sever inflation in Ireland ( and elsewhere) at the moment but to ask guests to pay €18.50 for a 6oz beef burger is a tad over the top ( see my pic) and to charge €24.00 for a "Steak Sandwich" is silly. The quality of our burgers was so poor that we called the server to tell him about it. The burger had the texture and quality of really poor piece of meat, it was dry, hard to cut and tasteless. My wife was offered a replacement and she opted for the Chicken & Mushroom Vol Au Vent which in fairness was really good The "full Irish" breakfast was no better, with rashers that almost needed a steak knife to cut because they were so had, sausages that were bland and black & white pudding that was so dried up it shattered when cut. On a separate note, if a manger is reading this.... can you do something about the heat in the breakfast area each morning, we found the room way too hot and could not open the windows for air One other small item, although Covid protocols have been eased a lot, we found it worrying that every single hand sanitizer that we used was empty during our stay, they only sanitizer available appeared to be in the dispenser bottle at the reception desk Having said all of the above, I must repeat that we found the staff amazing, the grounds beautiful and sitting outside on the veranda in sunshine overlooking the golf course was so relaxing. It's such a pity that the kitchen is letting the hotel down so much ... or maybe not and we are just expecting too much

Set in possibly one of the most beautiful surroundings I have seen. From the ‘outside in’ the hotel could be incredible. Once inside it is dated and in desperate need of renovation, the spa facilities were dirty, over used and mostly broken, one of the four showers showers were working in the Mens changing room, the jacuzzi was out of order, the sauna floor was brown with human skin and desperately needed a jet wash, the pool Tiles were cracked and missing in a lot of Places, the changing room floors were dangerously slippy. The rooms again were dated, beds not particularly comfortable and felt very old, one of the beds smelled badly of urine, the bathrooms were rusty in part to wet areas. All in all I think 3/5 was quite kind. Positive was the staff were very friendly. Free parking and beautiful setting, even though our room was over looking a roof top

From start to finish, the customer service at this hotel is 1st class. Starting with Bobby in the golf shop, couldn't be more accommodating and what a wonderful course set in a beautiful parkland. And an additional bonus to get a special welcome from the Lady Captain for breakfast. The bar and restaurant staff are welcoming and do their job very well. Finally the food and drinks were top class. Unfortunately the weather was too nice to avail of the leisure facilities but that can wait 'til next time. Thank you Nuremore for making our trip so enjoyable.
