I really wanted to love this hotel, Its location is fantastic in town in Navan so you can walk around the entire city, have a drink at a pub, and not worry about driving anywhere. The room was clean and comfortable although it only came with Decaf coffee in the room. Breakfast was included and was okay, nothing to write home about and very limited if you prefer to eat vegetarian. Dinner was excellent in the pub and they had a nice Italian wine. The parking is extremely limited for a hotel that size. I’d be concerned to have a large meeting there because you’d have nowhere to park all the cars. And, the strangest thing about this hotel is they ask you to pay for the room upon check in (no problem) - gave the receptionist my credit card which I already had given them online. Then, they would not allow me to charge anything else at the hotel on my room even though they had me sign an authorization for the same at check in! So, you can’t go to the hotel bar and order a glass of wine and let them charge it to the card they already have. Just a very stupid policy. Thankfully, most hotels are more American friendly. Nobody wants to share their credit card multiple times during their stay with multiple hotel employees. No, thanks.

My wife booked a 3 night stay on Lidl Breaks in January for our wedding anniversary on March 17th (we booked March 16, 17 & 18).

She subsequently emailed hotel asking for a room with a nice view & as close to the lift (if we were upstairs) as possible as she has a few mobility related health issues and we'd be spending a nice bit of time in the room. They replied saying this was sorted.

We booked in and were assigned room 108 on 1st floor. Room was recently decorated apparently & it was lovely. See attached room plan (yellow box highlighted is a wall outside the windows) & photo of view out room window (wall with pipework). Rooms 108, 109 & 110 have a wall running outside the windows and little to no light gets in, even in daytime !

Lidl Breaks advertised a room, breakfast & 2 x course evening meal for each day. When we went for supper on the 1st night we were told we were only getting the main course. We queried this with waitress & she advised that was what we were listed for on her sheet. A couple sitting at the table next to us overheard this conversation and it was rather embarrassing !

We went to Reception after dinner and showed them a screen shot on Lidl Break site re 2 x course supper. They told us they'd have to talk to Lidl Breaks about it. They gave us vouchers for a 2 x course supper for our remaining 2 x nights. We also advised the Receptionist that the view out our window was a major disappointment considering their previous email that we were going to get a room with nice view. They advised they were fully booked and that we could be moved on our last night if we wished (the Friday night). We advised we'd not bother moving.

All the staff, especially the bar staff, were very friendly, efficient & VERY helpful. The hotel is lovely, clean & in a brilliant location.

Overall, a lovely building, with brilliant staff but we felt majorly disappointed over the view from the room window & the mix up over the 2nd course for supper.

Gave an average rating only because of the staff ! Other than that it would have been a poor rating.

Nice hotel but wouldn't stay again. My partner and I went for a 3 night stay and didn't feel wowed. We live in Northern Ireland and travel south Ireland regularly so are very aware of what hotels usually provide and this one didn't hit the mark. I would go as far as to say my least favourite in over 20+ hotels.

Staff were not friendly and welcoming. Every hotel we stay in we would give
a quick hello or nod to anyone we pass. Staff at this hotel turned their heads and never acknowledged your exsistance. There was no small talk about where we came from and what we were doing on our travels (except a fair haired lady in Rowleys pub, she was the only memeber of staff who took notice of us. I hope you enjoyed your time in Antrim! ). Not even when checking out were we asked about our stay, just wanted payment.

Decor was nice but very outdated and run down in areas. This never bothers me and was really not that bad. However
scant in areas. We were provided a kettle but no cups or coffee/tea bags to brew a drink ( could be to do with covid?). No 'do not disturb' sign for the door handle which hotels usually provide (I'll come back to this). And the breakfast.. we are vegetarian and my partner opted for the bagel which comes with an egg, sausage and bacon. Of course he said no sausage and bacon and he was given a bagel with a very tiny poached egg. I get thats whats left when you take off half the items but any decent establishment would see it looks inadequate and put an extra egg to ensure their guests leave satisfied. Seems this hotel does the bare minimum.

Also found the hotel was very loud. You constantly hear doors banging, walls are very thin and you can hear other guests talking in their rooms and their showers blasting. After breakfast there was loud banging too around 10am, barrels being changing maybe? To top it off on one of our days we hung back in our hotel room into the afternoon while my partner completed some work and two members of staff stood outside our door yelling. One was insisting the other needed to step up and clean more rooms faster but it was not polite at all.

Back to the lack of do not disturb sign.. once they finished their brawl, one burst into our room, no knocking or anything. I had even locked the door from the inside as I'd taken a bath while my partner worked. Was very shocked to be invaded so easily, luckily we were decent!

All in all... never going back lol.

Stayed with on Sunday night. Arrived early and room wasn't ready which was completely fine so we headed into the bar for drinks and food. Service was beyond brutal. Several staff passed by us without acknowledgement or taking our order. One person from the table ordered a sandwich which took 15 minutes to come out and it wasn't busy at all. Serval minutes after another person ordered the hot joint sandwich. Waiter didn't know what it was and went off to find out. Came back and said only bacon was left. After a 25 minute wait the sandwich came out, it was no more a hot joint sandwich. It was two streaky bacon on it. Called waiter and informed her and said that was what the sandwich was. The bathroom in the room had no cold water at all between the bath taps and the sink. The more your turned the tap to the right the hotter the water was. Rooms small and very dated. Would not return or recommend.

We stayed here in August 2020.
When we arrived we decided to get a carvery. It cost us €29 for a beef and chips and a chicken dinner which was expensive bit being a Sunday we thought ok fair enough.

We had to ask for the beef dinner to be microwaved as it was freezing cold. They thought nothing of this, heated it up without an apology or anything.

We asked could we go back for a drink later without food as we already would have ate and were told no problem, we will just leave a menu beside you.

Next day we had meal in hotel which was lovely. One was no seasoning and plain and was covered in milled black pepper so be careful when ordering. Throughout the time the pub was operating as normal and serving drink with no food.

Deal included breakfast in bed, we were told to come down for this. Then we enquired and were told there was a slip for the door which there wasn’t and eventually the man at reception took our order.

Hotel is rough in places, room looked clean but throughout the first night we noticed bottle tops on the floor and a few other things that showed it was not that clean.

Car park is a joke, far too small and if you need amusement go here and watch people trying to get around it.

All in all it was a very average and basic hotel. I would not go back.

Very nice Hotel Friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable bedroom all amenities attended to.Quite affordable. Breakfast was good. We didn't wake on time but they still let us have breakfast in the dining room. The night porter was jolly and friendly. The receptionist was very amenable and helpful. The dining room manager a lady with dark hair and perhaps polish was so accommodating for breakfast. Thank you everybody

Very disappointed with the room (312), we stayed as family of 3, 2 adults and a 15 year old, which the hotel classed as an adult, which meant we were 3 adults staying in a triple room for 2 nights.
The room was too small for “3 adults” for 2 nights and over the kitchen fans which never shut down, so we could hear them all night as we couldn’t close the window because the room was so small and stuffy.
The first night we had to ask for adapters or something because the lamps didn’t fit the sockets in the room!
Then was told someone would sort it, get an adapter or extension lead or different lamps - which made no sense to me because if these were available why weren’t they in the room already and why wait until we had to ask for them. While he did “sort it out” it seemed crazy that there was 1 bedside lamp on only 1 side of the room of 3 beds because there was only 1 working socket that they fit! We had to ask for a fan which he brought straight up but we had to unplug the TV to plug it in and then move the TV cabinet to plug that back in.

The room was very small and basic, but it felt like they just shoved the extra single bed in the room if I’m honest, and that was just confirmed when we tried to have showers and realised there was only 2 sets of towels and toiletries for the room. When we were leaving for the day we asked “extra” towels to be put into the room and the receptionist said not only would they do that but they would service the room as well, I assumed they would have done for a triple room anyway, guess not!

We came back after a very hot day in Tayto Park looking forward to a nice clean room and showers for everyone, which then had to be delayed because room wasn’t serviced and no towels brought up. Had to go back down and ask AGAIN for something that should have been done without even asking.

The night “porter/manager” was very nice both nights and fixed all the issues but kind of ridiculous that it needed that many requests for 1 room for 1 stay and no real acknowledgement from front desk about any of the mistakes either.

Left a bad taste about the hotel and would make me very wary about booking again which is sad as the rest of the hotel looked lovely.

Staff was friendly and the view of the church, across the street from the hotel was heavenly! The room itself was nothing special or out of the ordinary, but it WAS clean which makes it a good value priced hotel. Very good location to walk around town and check things out. Navan was a good spot to land after arriving in Dublin rather than pay the high Dublin prices. Not sure if I would stay again, but for the traveler who is budget minded this would be a good, clean spot to overnight!

3 of us went here for an afternoon drink. As the designated driver I asked for a pint of Heineken Zero as I could see a machine behind the bar. Was told that it had not worked for months but they did long neck Heineken 00 which I accepted. I also ordered a glass of wine and a pint of Carlsberg. They seemed happy to run a tab so we settled in for a cosy chat and a few drinks. After some time I ordered the same again and was not asked to settle the bill and so it continued for a third round after which I asked for the bill. Imagine my surprise when the bill came to a whopping €56.25. 3 pints of Carlsberg (€15.60) 3 Heineken LN bottles (€15.90) and an amazing (€24.75) for 3 glasses of wine. I felt ripped off that the Non alcoholic LN
bottle cost more than the PINT of Carlsberg but when I queried the cost of the wine I was informed that I had the large glass of wine. Yet when I ordered the wine I was not informed that they did two sizes Standard and large they just give you the large glass and expect you to suck it up (no pun intended). This is either poor training on behalf of management or a deliberate policy by management to rip off the customer. So my advice is if you are in the Newgrange Hotel bar and ask for a glass of wine and they give you a large glass refuse to pay for a large glass as you did not order a large glass. They will quickly get the message and give the customer the choice of which they wish to consume.
