Fantastic, checked in had beautiful afternnon tea on the lawn, spa treatment was beautiful, then dinner was out of this world, staff are so helpful and the house its self is a beautiful setting - cant wait to go back - highly recommend this to couples or a group of girls.
So we started our night away with a trip to the spa and I had Simpson as my therapist. She was absolutely amazing.. I have had a good few massages and facials in other hotels but have never come out feeling the way I felt today. So rejuvenated and I felt so much lighter after the massage. The other residents where all talking to eachother in the outdoor hot tub, and that is something you dont see that much anymore, so there was a lovely atmosphere to the place. The hotel room was unreal, so modern but retained so much character. All the staff were lovely too and it just felt like such an amazing escape!! I would highly recommend to everyone.
Well, I was delighted by the scallops, big fellas sitting on the long plate, not the usual small portions given out in most other restaurants. Enough to share with others! The pork belly and confit of duck were also fabulous and the accompanying wines were sublime. I would recommend the course Chardonnay with the scallops and the house Rioja with the duck. Then I retired to a bed which was firm but allowed my body to slip into a most satisfying sleep. The staff were all lovely and then lastly, breakfast was excellent and the sausages win the nicest breakfast sausages I have ever had anywhere.
and I was not disappointed, beautiful olde worlde hotel (not quite 5 star because it's rustic), hanging onto an authentic feel, really nicely renovated, quirky eclectic comfortable rooms (I ended up in the ruins), stunning surroundings, near to Dublin, near to lots of sightseeing. Lovely good quality inexpensive food, in a very relaxed atmosphere. Welcoming staff who are keen just to help you have a great time...I really enjoyed it...
