Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very good B&B with an excellent view of the Carlingford Lough. The fire pit area is an excellent place to enjoy the view and have a cocktail or two with your friends. Owner Paul Woods was extremely hospitable and full of joy. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone who has the privilege of visiting the beautiful medieval village of Carlingford.

Visited this beautiful B&B last week with my boyfriend and family. The owners were incredibly helpful and friendly, they couldn't have been nicer. The B&B overlooks the most beautiful view and is in very close proximity to the village. We all had the best time here.

Stayed here for 4 nights for our family "staycation" and really couldn't have asked for a better spot. The rooms are clean, modern, spacious and very reasonably priced. Paul the owner is such a lovely man and nothing was too much trouble. The location is fantastic (only a couple mins walk into town) with stunning views over the lake to the front and the mountains behind. The cafe is closed at the moment but you can visit them in town at the Wildwood Cafe street food box which is fantastic and definitely worth a visit. Absolutely beautiful place and we'll definitely be back!

Me and my partner stayed here for 2 nights, we arrived after 10pm and Paul couldn’t be more helpful! Really lovely man who epitomises Irish hospitality. The room was great value for money, the breakfast is to die for! We ended up with a flat tyre and Paul couldn’t do enough for us to help us. It was a fabulous stay, great location, scenery, and nightlife in the local town. We shall definitely be back!

Beautiful spot above Carlingford looking out over the sea. The accomodation is exactly what you'd want - clean, tidily kept, reasonably priced and the owner was a bit of cracking. So lovely he gave us a lift into town and a quick whistle stop tour to get our bearings. Carlingford really is a hidden gem - as good as Kinsale, Westport etc. Go see for yourself!

The Viewpoint B&B is a charming motel type place to stay with stunning vistas that to both sides - one over Carlingford Lough facing Co Downs beautiful Mourne Mountains and to the other side up the mountain that rises majestically behind the Viewpoint. Paul (owner) and Joanna (daughter who runs the incredible Wildwood Cafe) are absolute gems!! Lovely, lovely people. Paul has a great sense of humour. Our room (5) was spacious with a huge bed, quiet, clean with a bathroom en-suite. We slept very well, arose early to catch sunrise coming over the Lough, went back asleep getting up at 9 am for a delicious cooked breakfast and great chat with Joanna! Upon our arrival Paul showed us around, showed us the restaurant, guided us as to best routes the village of Carlingford and regaled us with his “Loo with a View” (which I used!!). As an Irishman, Viewpoint was very much an Irish experience. The Viewpoint even notes “they are not a 4 star hotel” but I’ll be staying here again in Carlingford! I do recommend it. Upon arrival, as it was raining we went for coffee and cake to the Wildwood. Loved it. Just loved it. While we did not eat dinner here, the menu is very well received on TripAdvisor with very creative vegetarian and vegan options plus meat/fish dishes!! We chatted with French and British visitors. Everyone really enjoying their time and stay. Everyone raving about the Wildwood cafe! Find the Viewpoint just slightly to the north of Carlingford (right as you exit the town). A sharp left just after a parking area to the RHS from the main road north from Dundalk/Carlingford on the way to Omeath Highly recommended!! I’ll be going back one day for sure!!

Everything about this place was gorgeous, I loved it and I had no complaints. I enjoyed the solitude, the position of the motel and the breakfast was very good. The local walks were superb and sign posted really well.

If you want a room with a view in Carlingford, then Viewpoint B&B is the place to savor the panorama views of Carlingford Lough, right outside your ground floor bedroom patio door window. Only equaled by the welcoming hospitality of Paul, Marie, and Johanna and Shane’s wholesome food cuisine.
