Very good B&B with an excellent view of the Carlingford Lough. The fire pit area is an excellent place to enjoy the view and have a cocktail or two with your friends. Owner Paul Woods was extremely hospitable and full of joy. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone who has the privilege of visiting the beautiful medieval village of Carlingford.

Stayed here for 4 nights for our family "staycation" and really couldn't have asked for a better spot. The rooms are clean, modern, spacious and very reasonably priced. Paul the owner is such a lovely man and nothing was too much trouble. The location is fantastic (only a couple mins walk into town) with stunning views over the lake to the front and the mountains behind. The cafe is closed at the moment but you can visit them in town at the Wildwood Cafe street food box which is fantastic and definitely worth a visit. Absolutely beautiful place and we'll definitely be back!

Visited this beautiful B&B last week with my boyfriend and family. The owners were incredibly helpful and friendly, they couldn't have been nicer. The B&B overlooks the most beautiful view and is in very close proximity to the village. We all had the best time here.

We decided to go to the Viewpoint B&B because Carlingford is such a scenic place. We booked four double rooms When we arrived we couldn't have been more disappointed. The view is definitely beautiful but the actually B&B was dreadful.
It was cold, the "door" on the bathroom was a wooden door on runners outside the door and couldn't even be closed properly. The windows were extremely drafty and the sliding doors were very hard to lock and unlock.
The only compliment I could give the hotel is that the breakfast was upstairs with a beautiful view and the food was lovely.
I would never recommend this B&B to anyone. The photo on the website is the only room of its kind. The rest are awful.

This hotel has a great view which is stunning. It is only set up to cater for hen parties to which the owner makes very clear as he states that where he makes his money. Our children we felt where an inconvenience to his business. They need to look at there housekeeping standards and check there rooms as my 4 year old found 5 yellow tablets from a previous guest in a drawer which thankfully she didn't put in her mouth but it could have been a different scenario. 1 more positive would be the quality of the food at breakfast and view over the bay however the fact we had 7 children in the dining area the owner felt he had to apologise to other diners for the noise which is just not acceptable. If your a hen party a great place to stay however, for families the owner makes it very clear that families are not his priorities and the money is with the hen parties.

We booked the Viewpoint B&B by telephone. When we arrived there was a man moving things about the grounds. He ignored us until I asked him if he knew who was in charge and he said he was the owner. He said he had no record of the booking and they were booked out. As it was a busy festival weekend there was nowhere else to stay in Carlingford. We had driven several hours to be there and were very annoyed. He almost managed to convince me I had made the mistake and we got back into our car. Then I remembered that a woman had rung me back to confirm the booking. I therefore had a record of that incoming call's number on my telephone. When I returned the call his phone rang and he answered. So we all knew it was the B&B who had made the mistake. He then told me that he had sold the B&B for a large sum of money (he told me the figure but I cannot remember it... several million?) and he 'did not care' about us. I reported the incident to the local tourist office in Carlingford who were completely uninterested. We will never go back to Carlingford.

The Viewpoint B&B is a charming motel type place to stay with stunning vistas that to both sides - one over Carlingford Lough facing Co Downs beautiful Mourne Mountains and to the other side up the mountain that rises majestically behind the Viewpoint.
Paul (owner) and Joanna (daughter who runs the incredible Wildwood Cafe) are absolute gems!! Lovely, lovely people. Paul has a great sense of humour.
Our room (5) was spacious with a huge bed, quiet, clean with a bathroom en-suite. We slept very well, arose early to catch sunrise coming over the Lough, went back asleep getting up at 9 am for a delicious cooked breakfast and great chat with Joanna!
Upon our arrival Paul showed us around, showed us the restaurant, guided us as to best routes the village of Carlingford and regaled us with his “Loo with a View” (which I used!!).
As an Irishman, Viewpoint was very much an Irish experience. The Viewpoint even notes “they are not a 4 star hotel” but I’ll be staying here again in Carlingford! I do recommend it.
Upon arrival, as it was raining we went for coffee and cake to the Wildwood. Loved it. Just loved it. While we did not eat dinner here, the menu is very well received on TripAdvisor with very creative vegetarian and vegan options plus meat/fish dishes!!
We chatted with French and British visitors. Everyone really enjoying their time and stay. Everyone raving about the Wildwood cafe!
Find the Viewpoint just slightly to the north of Carlingford (right as you exit the town). A sharp left just after a parking area to the RHS from the main road north from Dundalk/Carlingford on the way to Omeath
Highly recommended!! I’ll be going back one day for sure!!
