I have stayed with Mary 12 times now (I visit for the horse riding nearby) and always stay at Oak Lodge. Mary is a fantastic host, makes a wonderful breakfast and packed lunch and looks after everyone so well. The B&B is well maintained, super clean and a minutes walk from the high street. I often visit with friends and love that you can relax in the breakfast room together after being out for the day.
Mary and PJ are the consummate hosts! This inn is so cozy and quiet, but is just steps from anything you need in town. The beds were comfortable, and showers roomy and modern. We had an amazing 6 day stay, and enjoyed such delicious breakfasts!! The little extra touches and recommendations Mary provides are second to none. I highly recommend this inn to anyone in the area. You will not find better accommodations and service, or more kind people!
I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful Mary the B and B host is. She is so warm, open and friendly. A typical Irish lass. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast are tailored to you and delicious. Thank you Mary

Had a wonderful stay at Oak Lodge B&B with my family of four. Conveniently located and superbly maintained, we were treated as five star guests. Mary was an exceptional hostess and we couldn't have been happier with the accommodations and breakfast. Highly recommend this superb bed and breakfast for your next visit to this lovely town.
4 cyclists staying for a night. If there is a model on how to run a B&B then Mary is that model. Friendly, helpful, informative accommodating all in one. A jewel. Made us feel so welcome in her spotless B&B. We were greeted by the best cup of tea I’ve had in ages. We were given expert advice on where to dine and even made the reservation for us. The breakfast was one of those set you up for the day affairs and not simply by the amount of food but by the quality of it and the way it was cooked. I can’t recall a better breakfast in a B&B. This is a flawless place to stay that is a real home from home. Book with utter confidence.
My friend and I have been coming to Portumna for about 7 years to go horse riding at a local equestion centre, and always return to stay at Oak Lodge! Mary is always so welcoming, kind and helpful, and the rooms are comfortable, and spotlesly clean - perfect for what we need! Would 100% recommend, and we can't wait to be back next year!
4 of us stayed in this B&B the night before picking up a boat from "Le Boat" in Portumna. We couldn't fault how we were looked after one bit. We practically had the fun of the place (there was only two other guests & the owner lives next door). Mary, the owner, was such a nice genuine person to deal with & couldn't do enough for us... she makes a mighty breakfast... that alone was enough for me 😁 5 stars from us all!
Oak Lodge B&B is less than 1 minute walk from Portumna's main street. Mary, our host, exemplified typical Irish hospitality - she was very friendly, helpful and enjoyed a good chat! We had our German Shepherd with us and she allowed us to switch rooms such that we were closer to the back door should we need to bring our dog out. The B&B itself is extremely clean with ample parking and nice decor. Mary also encourages guests to have a cup of tea or coffee for themselves during the day in the dining room. This was great as it facilitates a some chats and banter amongst other guests, while observing social distancing of course! The Full Irish breakfasts were quality as was the fresh cafetiere coffee each morning all of which got us well past lunchtime during the day. Mary also advised on what we could go and see including a local art exhibit, forest walks along Lough Derg, the local castle and she even booked us in for a tour of Portumna's (in)famous Workhouse which was an excellent history lesson and contained a bonus - an exceedingly exceptional hand carved bog oak famine exhibit. Overall, we had a great time - Oak Lodge B&B was centrally located, clean, dog friendly, great value for money and all with a lovely host therefore highly recommended!…
This is THE place to stay if in the central Shannon area. Our hostess, Mary was the best we had in many years of trips to Ireland. The Lodge is clean and vibrant, all new fixtures. Food was great as well.
