I have 4 rooms booked as I have my wife's 50th birthday party in the harp bar attached to hotel.i was emailed this morning that all are cancelled.i was not even informed why.i had to find that out for myself.i managed to get through to hotel who were less than helpful.not one MANAGER on duty all day.the usual just leave your name and number. Apparently the hotel is taking in Ukrainian refugees.which is great in my opinion.however all bookings made should be honoured or at least a longer notification period so I can source alternative accommodation as my family and extended family's stay is due in 3 WEEKS not 1 hotel room left in swords .this to me stinks of greed on owners behalf and I would stick with that opinion unless somebody from hotel actually calls me.i would indeed consider alternative accommodation if the carnegie Court can source but not holding out much luck for that one.i will continue to call to speak to a manager but am afraid I'm just getting the run around.just think this has been badly handled on hotels behalf...

Myself, my husband and our two friends were due to stay here the bank holiday weekend in June and booked it back in February and today we received an email stating that it was cancelled due to the government requesting the hotel to be used for Ukrainian refugees, while I have the greatest sympathy for the Ukrainians this is utterly ridiculous and totally unfair as any place I’ve now tried is either booked up or extortionate prices. I hope the hotel will always have the government to fund them because we certainly will never book there again. The government and hotels appealed to us all last year to holiday at home!!! How can we when our bookings could be cancelled last minute 😡😡 The hotel are not even answering the phones.

Booked 2 rooms for 4th June 2022. Have just received an email cancelling room because the government has requested that the hotel be closed for Ukranian refugees. Existing bookings should be honoured. They are not answering the phones

Had Reservations booked for over 2 months to stay in June but got an email this morning saying that they cancelled the reservation no explanation as to why. I now have to find alternative accommodation in a rush which will probably now be more expensive. Very disappointed with the customer service and would not recommend this hotel as it's clear that even once booked there is no guarantee that you will get to stay there!

We booked two rooms very spacious and comfortable. We were told at reception that breakfast was at 7, we said we had to leave at 730, so we’re told, nor problem we will bring it to your room. At 7 no one had arrived, went to reception to be told breakfast started at 7? In fairness staff sorted out our needs very quickly and we got away. Same day we were told that our ferry the next day was cancelled and we had to leave same day. Left at 5pm. We appreciated a full refund could not be given for our non overnight stay or breakfast. However repeated emails to the hotel for a partial refund or credit for a future booking remain unanswered. Disappointing.

Checked into the Carnegie Court for an impromptu girls weekend away. We arrived earlier than expected so enjoyed a fabulous cocktail in the Harp Bar before checking in! Room was fantastic! More than enough room for the girls to get ready before a night on the town! Reception staff were total dolls booking us a taxi into the town! There was a fablous selection for breakfast the next morning, even suited my very fussy vegetarian super healthy friend! We drove into the city for shopping and when we came back decided to have a few drinks, the bar staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We decided to have dinner in the hotel rather than head into town. We booked into the Courtyard Restaurant, the food was unreal! We were so stuffed we were gonna pass on desert until the waiter made a personal recommendation which was absolutely superb! Can’t wait to go back again! Totally revitalised after that weekend away! Great location, great atmosphere, great staff!

Travelled from Larne on route to Dublin travelling to the airport. Staff couldn’t do enough to help us and made it feel like a home from home. Would highly recommend as located close to airport - get choice of food. Pints in bar were one of the best I’ve had - will def be back

Bad Points. We had the misfortune of being put in a room that badly needed updating, room 105. Taps loose, sealant on taps failed, rotten tatty old towels (which smelled of cooked food), rotten timbers around bath, cold and drafty, poor heating with no controls, only cleaned once in 3 days. Even when the room was cleaned it wasn't great, I had to ask the cleaner to replenish items in the bathroom and in fact ended up taking them off the trolley that was in the corridor. we kept the curtains closed to keep the cold draft from the windows at bay, we put one of the bed throws against the door to stop drafts from there. I understand that the covid situation has delayed things getting done but a room like this should not be let in it's current state. There are updates going on in the hotel but this room was so bad! I wrote and complained on our return, to no avail mostly, the Hotel Manager does not seem to want to resolve anything except for a hollow offer of a discounted rate on newly refurbished room for one night. Given that we spent 500.00, this was a meaningless response. The room certainly is not what is advertised on their website, in other words the website is misleading prospective occupants into believing they would be staying in a lovely room, which this was not, by any means. The room had an iron and board, from the 1960's probably. Good Points. We were there for a wedding for the weekend, food at the wedding was great, service was great at the wedding too. The breakfasts in the hotel are very good and the staff were very good too. Function room and dance floor are really good. Drinks very expensive though. The Manager ( I will not name him here) has chosen not to respond to my further emails and requests details nor a decent offer or partial reimbursement. Initially there was a short but ineffective response, no doubt a generic response sent to all and sundry.

Great hotel, fab location for family event or a few bevvies. Rooms need some modernisation but the function room is spectacular. Rooms could benefit from a deep cleaning, removing chewing gum from inside the bedside lamp and removing dead spiders would make a difference. Also for the price of the room, breakfast should be included.

The staff in the hotel are some of the best staff I have ever come across at a wedding. From the moment we choose the Carnegie Court for our dinner after our wedding two years ago Oana has been there every step of the way with us offering invaluable guidance not only about the food and wine but also the wedding as a whole. No query or issue phased her and she was always there with solutions. Every time we visited the hotel either to meet with Oana or to simply to have food the staff treated us so well. They were always so attentive and friendly. On our wedding day the staff looked after us and our family and friends like we were their family. They were so delighted to see how happy we were especially since we had to postpone our wedding in 2020 to the same date this year. Everyone who attended the wedding said it was not only the best wedding they had been at but the food was exquisite and they had never had such delicious food at a wedding. Every member of staff deserves a raise and recognition for everything they did to make our day so special. The only reason for the 4 star review is the owner, David Grant, over managed/micro managed the staff; continually taking them away from their assigned task to do a task he felt wasn’t assigned even though it was being covered by a different member of staff. He also made myself and my now husband very uncomfortable when we were talking seating and final details in the restaurant with Oana (two weeks before the wedding). He kept peering in as if Oana didn’t know what she was doing and that he didn’t trust myself or my fiancé. He did it again when we were sitting eating in the bar after meeting with Oana. He marched up and down through the bar/outdoor area as if everyone was up to no good and the staff would slack if he wasn’t around. It was very uncomfortable and off putting. He undid A LOT of the excellent work his staff did for us and do every day. He really needs to back off and let them do their jobs.
