I stayed here on the 2nd October 2020 for 1 night due to a family bereavement. The staff (who were all very friendly & accomadating) went out of their way to provide the best service possible for me, as I’m sure they would have for anyone else, had the hotel been full. I would definitely recommend this hotel Barry Moran
We chose this hotel for its location right on the beach. We were not disappointed on any level, despite disappointing weather! This is a beautiful hotel on a fabulous beach. Our room was on the top floor with stunning views of the ocean. The room was large with a comfortable seating area to enjoy the view. As with the rest of the hotel everything was spotlessly clean. The restaurant looks out on the beach and the food is fabulous. The staff must be the most helpful and friendly I have ever encountered. When we were there the hotel was only open to residents, which meant there was plenty of space to enjoy a snack or drink in the cozy bar. This hotel has a long history and hopefully a long future. It is one of those rare hotels that is a destination in itself. We didn’t want to leave!…
This is a nice hotel in a great location. The decor was slightly tired but it had a lovely quaint feel and it wasn't something that bothered us. The room had a lovely bay window that overlooked the beach and there's a lovely veranda to sit in also. The staff in the breakfast dining room were lovely and the food was very good. We didn't eat dinner. As above the housekeeping maybe could be improved-we found a dirty cloth on the beside table when we entered the room. Also we felt the hotel was the least obvious with it's covid precautions of all the hotels we visited on our trip. You didn't get the feeling the room was well sanitised. Decorative pillows, throws etc were on the beds which weren't in other hotels we had stayed in. Majorly I don't know why the reception staff (two different members) were not wearing masks, there wasn't even a perspex screen on the reception counter, if receptionists weren't going to be wearing masks. In fact as the lady was about to hand us our envelope with the room key, she sneezed into her hand and carried on handling everything! Besides the fact she shouldn't have sneezed into her hand in the first place, she should have used sanitiser immediately afterwards. I get it's a natural reaction to put your hand to your nose when you sneeze but in these times we are overly conscious of ourselves. Plus if she had been wearing a mask then the sneeze wouldn't have been a problem-the whole reason for us wearing masks! Guests weren't wearing masks around the corridors or in reception etc. I think if you see staff wearing masks and see that the hotel is taking precautions you as a result are more likely to. These things didn't affect our lovely stay but are worth mentioning I believe.…
Just returned from a paradise of a setting aka Sandhouse Hotel in Donegal. Staff in restaurant / dining room and bar fantastic - really friendly. Restaurant manager was fantastic - always checking in to see if we were okay / food okay / service okay. Food was gorgeous and plentiful - very generous portions. One thing I really believe would make a difference is the house keeping. We were handed an envelope on checking in - himself scanned it but didn’t read it. We didn’t realise until we returned to our room the following day and saw the bad unmade that the letter contained information about the room not having a deep clean unless we requested it and vacated the room for 4 hours. Our towels had been replaced in the bathroom. Next day we headed over the keys and requested a deep clean and left the room for four hours. Returned to find apart from the bed being dressed nothing much else had happened. Sand still on carpet, dirty glasses / coffee cup / spoon all left where they were. No shower gel etc. I did say it the following morning requesting that we might get some shower gel - this was taken care of. But again dirty glasses left etc. We really enjoyed our time and didn’t allow poor housekeeping to blind us to the rest of the great experience. However, just a couple of things which would really elevate the experience. Clean the windows - I know you are seafront but even giving someone a job to wash the dining room windows every couple of days would enhance the views - in the small separate section of the breakfast / dining room hand / finger prints are all over the interior of the window. Given all of the above - we will absolutely be back and have already had friends book as a result of our stay - but we did add a caveat and tell them not to expect so much in terms of housekeeping ( which really is a shame ). Thanks you once again to the dining room team and bar staff. 🙏😀😀…
We had a brilliant long weekend break in the Sandhouse Hotel in Rossnowlagh, County Donegal. The staff were friendly & helpful. The room on the first floor overlooking the sea was magical with a fantastic view of the sea/ocean. The walks on the beach were memorable. We will definitely be returning. We have also been recommending to friends & family, & so far two others have gone & reported back positively on their stays
