Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I, our three children and our little dog are back from our stay at the River House and we can’t wait to go back! We stayed in the hostel room Glenveagh and it was great! Two double beds, a bunk bed, en-suite and plenty of floor space for the dogs bed. When we arrived Anthea very kindly showed us to our room and had left us face masks in case we needed to visit local shops. Also there were crisps and bars in our room which the kids (and me if I’m honest) were delighted with after our long car journey! Literally across the hall from our room was a kitchen/dining area which we were welcome to use to make ourselves a snack or a meal. Milk, bread, orange juice and cereals were provided which was a lovely surprise. It felt like a little home away from home and would advise anyone who plans to visit he area to definitely stay here! Thanks again and we have already starting recommending you to our family and friends.

I stayed in Dungloe River House last summer and loved it so much I came back again for one week in June 2021. It is a home away from home, very cosy and clean and the bedrooms are clean and spacious.
Jack, the new Manager is very welcoming and helpful. There is also a nice garden and a barbecue area. I am a vegetarian and they do vegetarian Irish breakfast and a delicious porridge!
I can highly recommend River House and Dungloe is also a great and central location for exploring Donegal.

Jack really was the star of the show here - choosing a beautiful sunny weekend to conduct business from Donegal Airport, we had a real mission trying to find anywhere to stay, Jack went over and above to accommodate us. Between so many closures due to covid and the very rare sunshine ensuring anywhere left was fully booked, I spent two hours without success to get 2 rooms for that night. Jack was the one to call me back, and although he had only left himself, made sure to find us a second room in another bnb within a 2 minute walk of each other, so we could still breakfast together and plan our day without a hitch - all . With taxis also in short supply early morning, Jack made himself available to drive us himself, but not before a good hearty full Irish.

Just 10 minutes from the stunning Maghery beach, a minute to a corner shop and no shortage of bars, 20 minutes to the airport it was a fantastic quiet little place in a beautiful part of the country. Advanced booking essential.

A lovely welcome and unbelievably helpful - they couldn't do enough for us! Thank you Jack & co. for everything.
Literally a stones throw from the very centre of Dungloe but set on the tranquil and picturesque Dungloe River bank it's a perfect location. We couldn't have asked for more - we'll definitely be back! :-)

Ideal place to stay if looking to explore the surrounding area. Mount Errigal, Glenveagh National Park, Burtonport Ferry to Aaronmore Island are all within short driving distance from the B&B.

Dungloe main street is 2 to 3 minute walk from the B&B.

Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. We stayed two nights and the service was excellent - free laundry, very nice breakfast served each morning (Irish fry, vegetarian option available). Triple room was very comfortable and spacious. Car parking available. Would definitely stay again if re-visiting Dungloe.

The owner Jack is really friendly, helpful and give good advices about the things to see around.
We recommend Jack's Irish Breakfast, you will not need to eat until the evening 😉

We were upgraded here after booking the hostel next door, and Jack made our stay so comfortable and welcoming from the get go. We were given a 6 person room between 3 of us which was clean comfortable and cosy. When we asked where we could go for food, Jack offered to make us up a portion of pasta bolognoise which was such a treat and so delicious. Great location and very much a home from home with a brilliant host. Highly recommended!

Our hosts at the River house went above and beyond what my friend and I could ever have expected from our hostel accommodation. We were so grateful for all the creature comforts provided for us, from the super cosy beds to the laundry service to the cheerful greetings, no matter what the time of day.
Hand on heart, the best hostel accommodation i ever stayed in.
Margo and Louise.

Myself and my family stayed at The River House for a week whilst travelling around Donegal. Jack was fantastic throughout our stay. He was very friendly, accommodating and gave us lots of tips & travel ideas during our stay.
The rooms were spacious and clean. All of the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. I would recommend this B&B to family and friends, and hope to stay there again in the future.

The house is lovely and the bedroom was clean and we had our own private bathroom. We met Jack at the desk who very kindly showed us to our room and even helped us with our laundry! He has great local knowledge and advised us on must see places in the area! Jack also cooked us a delicious breakfast the next morning and did all of this while maintaining a professional, friendly and warm manner. I definitely recommend staying here!

Hi Cath, Thanks for your questions. The River House is located on the Gweedore Road in Dungloe about a 3-minute walk from Main Street. There are several great places to eat as well as a number of great pubs too. The Gweedore Road is a quiet road in the evenings and it is really well placed for accessing main attractions and scenery. We are a 2-minute walk to the beautiful River Walk which has fantastic views and Dungloe bay is about a 5-minute walk. Unfortunately, neither can be seen from the house and I know this is important to you. The room you have booked is on the ground floor. We have rooms upstairs but they fall into our budget category, however they are en-suite, and have plenty of character. With regard to reviews, as you know we are only recently opened and though Trip Advisor is an important tool we don’t think it is the only way to see if people like our home. You are welcome to see what people are saying on our website under the reviews section. Dungloe has plenty of great B&B’s, some with the view you require and we completely understand if you wish to investigate their facilities. We would of course love it, if you do decide to stay with us as planned. If you wish to ask any further questions I am happy to call you at your convenience.
