Killybegs is very much a seasonal fishing village. A relaxing spot for that getaway or short weekend break. It was this we had planned for. From time-to-time there are events and festivals in the town or in neighbouring villages, which offer a pleasant attraction to the area. There are not many places to stay at a reasonable price though. A BnB has instant appeal with us, as we like to feel at home in a place and if possible, stay convenient to the town. Whilst not exactly on the doorstep of the town, it is within walking distance downhill - 10 mins. Uphill is quite steep and wouldn’t be a pleasing experience. The BnB offers off-street parking, so there is ample room for cars and bikes etc. The decor and facilities in the BnB were second to none. Perhaps our room was a little cramped but for the two nights we stayed, we found the bed comfortable, ensuite clean and tidy and all facilities worked! The breakfast was hearty and friendly. Every concoction of food was available - from breads, cereals, jams and cooked items. (Might I recommend you try the homemade pancakes, baked to a in-house recipe!) We chatted over breakfast and were made to feel welcome. Our hosts were friendly and we were pleased that they were accepting of us as a gay couple, which sadly is not always the case in Ireland. When there is a festival or event on in the area, it would be worth giving this accommodation serious consideration. I know we’ll be back in Killybegs soon, staying with Philomena and Tom our new Donegal friends.

What a great location. The view is breathtaking you could sit in the gathering room for hours just watching the ocean waves. The room we stayed in had a view of the ocean right out the window. The hostess and her family was very knowledgable of the area and so accommodating. If we return to the area we will stay there again.

We returned to stay at Ocean View for our second time. While my husband was fuzzy on our first stay there, this time his response was that he would love to return and stay for a longer period of time in the future. My mother, sister and niece appeared to really enjoy their stay as well. They had a gorgeous view of the side of the mountain below covered with bleating sheep, Donegal Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, and mountains on the other side of the bay. While our view missed the water, we looked up the side of the mountain which was charming as well. The bedding, and each room in general, were beautiful, leaving us feeling as though we were in a luxury hotel, yet with the charm and comfort of a home atmosphere. Helena is fabulous and we look forward to many more visits to her B&B......hoping she'll not retire before we return again and again! We love Helena and Ocean View!

The finest view, host, and accomodations bar none. Mrs.Cunningham was a most gracious host and we wanted for nothing. The room was delightful and looked out on the ocean, beautiful. The surrounding are was also great. We would highly recommend this B&B.
