Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The room was very clean and cleaned every day,big bay window over looking the beach, perfect view morning and night.Bay View is a loverly quiet place to stay. Bernadette and Paddy are 2of the most welcoming people we have ever met,so friendly…we will go back again for another visit, sooner rather than later… They were very accommodating and even booked our taxi to go to the rail station. next morning.coffee shop on beach and a very tasty cafe next door for great meals.

I visited here with my husband and daughter. First of all we were met by a man with a clipboard counting the numbers of beds were in the rooms. Then later in the evening there was a terrible smell of raw sewage in the room the smell would come and go and the sound of what was like a cistern filling was terrible. I rang to reception and the night porter had come up but the water noise had stopped thankfully at that point and the smell was gone. I had asked the porter to ask the people in the next room to please turn down the TV it was ridiculously loud he said he would when he got down to reception. I'm assuming he did because the TV got louder. We ended up having to put a table fan on the try and drown out the sound of the TV. At 3am there was terrible couching from the next room (I know not their fault) seemed the walls were paper thin. This went on for a few hrs. I walked that room floor all bloody night then at 7.30 am again next door an alarm was going off for 45mins. At this stage I was so mad because I'd been up all night I was ready to scream. So we went down for breakfast and went into the wrong room and wasn't long till we were ushered out by a staff member that was where the Ukrainians were having there bfast we were sent to the dining room for ours. Have to say the bfast was lovely. When we were leaving I aired my grievances with the girl at the desk all she said was sorry with a smile on her face. I had to leave with great haste before I actually said what was in the pit of my stomach. I was so cross not even as much as we will reimburse you some of the €165 we spent for bfast because technically the bed wasn't used because we were too busy walking the floor never again will I spend a night in this place and if anyone has sense they won't either absolute disgrace. 😡😡

I was in a group of 6 specifically attending for a roast. None of us ate a roast because they refused, citing that they'd run out of beef and turkey even though there was plenty of time before they would finish serving said roast. So we ordered other food. I watched my friends eating food while waiting for them to serve me a burger. They all finished eating before I obtained my burger. Don't get me wrong, the burger was nice but I'd waited an hour for my burger after I had arrived and ordered. The organisation in this restaurant is terrible. I did get an apology but it was too little too late. I won't be returning because the service is really bad and I just wanted a chilled afternoon.

Used as a base for cycling and hiking in the area. Didn’t spend much time in the hotel but seemed ok - a bit dated but overall clean and comfortable. I had a really Large room with a great view of the street and harbour, however the noise of the harbour getting going at 5.30am woke my friend so maybe get a room at the back if you are a light sleeper. One gripe we both had that the heat was shocking (it wasn’t warm weather- just central heating I guess) and the Windows only opened slightly so it was difficult to sleep. Bathroom was a good size and the shower was good. Breakfast was ok, usual buffet, a bit basic. The coffee was really bad though. Overall quite good value if it wasn’t for the stifling heat in the room, but would probably look at other options in the area if I was going there again.

We had a very enjoyable 3 night midweek stay in the bay view hotel in beautiful killybegs. We booked a room with panoramic views over the harbour which is Ireland's premier fishing port. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and also had some delicious and wholesome food in the bar.every staff member from reception to the bar and also at breakfast time were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The Donegal people are just so lovely. I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for a very relaxed and comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We went to the hotels restaurant as a family of 3 with our 18 month old son - the staff were very helpful and attentive, in particular one lady who said she was on her first day back from maternity leave (not sure of name). Fish & chips were really good but husband for a burger which seemed like it had been previously cooked and reheated. It was dry and very tough on the outside. Kids nuggets and chips were ok but again nuggets seemed refried/ reheated. It's a pity that the food wasnt great as the atmosphere and view was lovely and the staff were brilliant too.
