We stayed at the Bay View Hotel on bed and breakfast for two nights which included Valentine's day. Our room was in the Reuben Suite overlooking the harbour. The room was spotless and it contained a queen size bed,two piece settee plus an armchair. If you are ever in Killybegs the Bay View is recommended. They had a special menu for Valentine's evening which you could not beat at only 24€ for a three course meal.
You also have to visit the Slieve League Cliffs. They are the highest cliffs in Europe. The best way to see them is by boat. There is a road to them where there is a view point of them which is the way we saw them because of storm Dennis arriving. The meals cannot be faulted in anyway either.
We would go back again just for the view over the harbour.

We stayed here on Saturday night, when we arrived the check in was simple and easy. Lunch was being served in the bar and we got a fabulous meal for on €9.95 each. The bar area is cosy and warm. Music was provided on the Saturday night. The buffy Breakfast was perfect and the rooms were clean. We did however experience a small problem but this was sorted quickly and professionally by the manger Seamus Gallagher. The hotel is in a great location for sight seeing south Donegal. We would recommend anyone in the area to give the bay view a visit for food, socialising or accommodation. Enjoy.

We had a very enjoyable 3 night midweek stay in the bay view hotel in beautiful killybegs. We booked a room with panoramic views over the harbour which is Ireland's premier fishing port. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and also had some delicious and wholesome food in the bar.every staff member from reception to the bar and also at breakfast time were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The Donegal people are just so lovely. I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for a very relaxed and comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Our room with a separate bathroom was clean, very plain and functional, no mini refrigerator. There's an extra charge for a room with a view of the harbour. After our first day out we returned about 4pm. The room hadn’t been cleaned, bed made or bin emptied. The housekeeper was working in a room opposite so I asked for clean towels as that was all we needed. There were no clean towels on the housekeeping trolly however she immediately went and got clean towels for us. The next day we got fresh towels but the used ones were left in the room, the bin was not fully emptied and the bed wasn’t made up.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant on the first floor. The room was bright with great views over the harbour. There was a good choice of cereals, fruit, juices, hot food and tea and coffee and the standard of food was good. Bar food was available in the lounge on the ground floor. There was the usual choices and while nice it was standard fare, filling and reasonably priced.
Throughout our stay no staff member wore a face covering. The receptionist station had a perspex screen and hand sanitizer and paper towels were readily available throughout the hotel. The hot breakfast was served by a member of staff to avoid contaminating utensils. The hotel bar served local clientele without observing the requirement for purchasing a substantial meal. By the end of one evening local clientele were sitting in a group of six or seven people without any social distancing.

We were looking forward to going away after so long but were cautious about staying away due to Covid-19. We went into our room (7pm roughly) & quickly realised that the bathroom had not been cleaned!! (Used toilet not flushed, soap opened, towels not fresh) this is really worrying at a time when hygiene is so important.
We complained to reception who said they’d send someone to clean it and were very nice but didn’t offer much other than another nights stay for free. I didn’t wish to even stay that night (considered driving 2+ hrs home) so we definitely would not have stayed again. The hotel was really busy so no other rooms were available. We also couldn’t book a table at the restaurant (even though we were staying) and ending up eating in a chippy. The bar was packed on the Saturday night no social distancing.
Overall the hotel is dated and in need of an update with the shabby carpets.
Breakfast was average and I’ve stayed at nicer hostels.
When I got home I contacted the hotel again to highlight these issues but got no response.

I visited here with my husband and daughter. First of all we were met by a man with a clipboard counting the numbers of beds were in the rooms. Then later in the evening there was a terrible smell of raw sewage in the room the smell would come and go and the sound of what was like a cistern filling was terrible. I rang to reception and the night porter had come up but the water noise had stopped thankfully at that point and the smell was gone. I had asked the porter to ask the people in the next room to please turn down the TV it was ridiculously loud he said he would when he got down to reception. I'm assuming he did because the TV got louder. We ended up having to put a table fan on the try and drown out the sound of the TV. At 3am there was terrible couching from the next room (I know not their fault) seemed the walls were paper thin. This went on for a few hrs. I walked that room floor all bloody night then at 7.30 am again next door an alarm was going off for 45mins. At this stage I was so mad because I'd been up all night I was ready to scream. So we went down for breakfast and went into the wrong room and wasn't long till we were ushered out by a staff member that was where the Ukrainians were having there bfast we were sent to the dining room for ours. Have to say the bfast was lovely. When we were leaving I aired my grievances with the girl at the desk all she said was sorry with a smile on her face. I had to leave with great haste before I actually said what was in the pit of my stomach. I was so cross not even as much as we will reimburse you some of the €165 we spent for bfast because technically the bed wasn't used because we were too busy walking the floor never again will I spend a night in this place and if anyone has sense they won't either absolute disgrace. 😡😡

Stayed at the bay view Saturday after being out on a fishing charter, couldn’t face the drive back to ballysally, it’s a good spot for a few pints of Heineken, there were lots from Belfast and Dublin there, so I had plenty of craic with them. There was a 30th birthday party on below my room, noisy enough so I ended up sneaking in for a few free bottles. The breakfast needed some better management, ya have to shout loud to get your bit. I’ll bring a Donegal jersey with me the next time.

I went for a short 4 day break to visit my cousin in Killybegs. I always go to the Bay View Hotel as it was a favourite of my Mum's. On both occasions I visited there I had monk fish and prawns. I am very boring or should I say a creature of habit. On our second visit my cousnns had the carvery which was very good and brilliant value. Don't ever change Bay View. I also would like to point out that on our second visit Saturday 29 February I was served by a lovely yound lady both smart and professional, unfortunately I have forgotten her name. She rembered me when I visited the Fleet Inn so she will know who I am. Well done you guys.

A group of five of us came up from Kerry for two nights. The rooms were newly refurbished and were spotless. There was so much space in the rooms which is hard to come by these days in hotels. The staff in the hotel were the friendliest staff we have ever come across and went above and beyond during our stay to help us feel welcome. We had a three course meal in the lovely restaurant upstairs and the food was exquisite. The steak sandwich was amazing and the cheesecake of the day was delicious. The manager Seamus was the best host for the duration of our trip and told us of all the many places to go in the area and informed us of the history of Killybegs. We will definitely be back!!

Asked what looked like a local fisherman where was the best place to go for a good carvery type feed and without hesitation he said go to The Bay View Hotel they'll look after ye well.
How right he was, it's an absolutely beautiful hotel with as you'd expect magnificent views over the bay. The decor is full of character but maintained in pristine condition and the staff could not have been nicer. We both opted for the roast beef and it was as good as you'd get anywhere. Lovely tender lean beef and 3 proper decent slices of it each. The jus was perfection as were the mash and veg, it was one of the best roast dinners we've had outside of our own kitchen.
The best was saved until last as when the bill came it revealed the price for each meal was only 14.50 euro and to top it off the pint of Guinness I had was only 4.80!
You'll be doing very well to find better value or quality anywhere in Ireland.
