Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lovely homely hotel right on the Killybegs Harbour. I spent 2 nights and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. The scrambled eggs for breakfast were probably the best I’ve had in a long while. Plenty of tea and toast sets you up for the day. The room was clean and had everything I needed.

The Tara Hotel is our 'happy place'. We've visited 4 or 5 times and will continue to do so. The room we usually stay in was occupied so we were put in the sea view room beside it. Next, we were very kindly upgraded to the Tara Suite! What a surprise! We love watching the boats come and go and the activity around them. The menu, although a bit different was still really good! This lovely hotel is not super duper modern and flashy. It's perfect. The staff as always are lovely, professional and seemingly happy!

Wife and myself decided to head in the Killybegs direction as we had a bit of business on route. Last time I was there they were building this wonderful Hotel. We had been advised to try the boathouse for evening meal. But because we were starving during the rugby ordered Fish Platter and wings…… boy it was great. Teresa on reception heard about us going to the boathouse and was kind enough to make our reservation. Thanks Teresa. She up graded our room and we were looked after royaly . We can only say great things about the Tara and their staff. We will definitely be back.

Room was clean and nice. Noise from boat was really loud all night and couldn't sleep. Worst thing was sitting for 10minutes in breakfast room to be served. Asked a girl if I could get served she said yes but never came. Another couple came in after me and after 5 minutes a guy came out to serve them and still ignored me. 20minutes to wait to be served is atrocious.lets hope the food is good. Not even busy.

This is a great little hotel close to the center of town. Well, the town is very small anyway. We were offered an upgrade to a very nice suite (Tara) on the top floor having reserved a regular twin. Great views of the fishing boats in the harbor and across the bay. Downside, and it’s not a big deal, is that there is limited on-street parking and a small parking lot down the hill by the boats. We got lucky and snagged a space right across the street. This is in November, so beware if it gets busy in the summer. Great place to stay if you are driving the Wild Atlantic Way since just a few miles up the street are the cliffs of Liang, a great place to visit if you have a head for heights and steady feet. Good restaurant with views of the bay and good menu selection.

We stayed in the Tara for 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) and had an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff were lovely, the room was exactly what we needed and was clean and spacious, the breakfast was great and the bar was buzzing. The hotel is within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants so what is there not to love !! 5 stars all round. Thank you

It’s nice enough though rooms are a little tired and breakfast needs a little more imagination - dreadful coffee.( forget the hotel breakfast and head to Mrs B’s in the town - and do try shack on the quay for some great seafood) . Great location though they seem to be building something on the quay to block the view. The staff of course are wonderful , friendly and welcoming.

Very nice hotel in Killybegs. Room was clean and nice. Hotel staff were excellent! We were looking for a place for dinner and they recommended an Asian restaurant and a pub with live music both of which we enjoyed. They also provided tips of other places to see, one of which was a little hidden beach we never would have seen. Lots of breakfast options. The view of the harbor from our room was great!!
