Detailed Reviews
We are regular visitors to this Restaurant, the Staff and Service are always excellent,
The Menu is fairly extensive, but we usually go for Fish which has good variety.
On this occasion I had Mussels Starter and Wife has Pate which was excellent
I had Prawns for Mains and Wife had Scampi, both meals were very tasty , well cooked and very enjoyable.
Will return again and again and would highly recommend

I stayed at The Bosun for 2 nights on a business trip to Cork. Hotel prices have exploded to a point where it's very difficult to justify paying upwards of €200 a night for 3 star accommodation.
The Bosun on the other hand was priced fairly. Very friendly and efficient check-in, and the room was spotlessly clean and very well appointed, with a nice view looking over at the harbour.
Breakfast was 5 star quality and the adjoining restaurant was superb. I would definitely return.

On the first weekend away this year with my wife. We returned, for the umpteenth time, to one of our favourite places in Ireland to stay, The Bosun, in Monkstown, Cork. It was well worth the wait for it to re-open after lockdown. As always food was beyond excellent, it was to die for. Every one of the staff, from owner Nicky, to manager Don, could not be nicer or more friendly or helpful. If you manage to get a chance to get away for a couple of days in this crazy COVID-19 world then you could not wrong hitting the Bosun.

Stayed for 2 nights. 110 per night. walked into my room(in the attic), couldn't swing a cat. my bed was right in front of the door and my window was a tiny skylight. Shower kept going cold. I hung Do Not Disturb on the Door as I had laptop and gear in there, came back...they completely ignored it and came in. I had food there, the first night I ordered the Carbonara.. Swimming in grease, all I could taste was grease, I couldn't eat it and sent it back.. Still charged me for it. The next night I said I try something else, Chicken Oscar, Chicken stuffed with Crab Meat. Disgusting, I was chewing down on bits of crab shell that would nearly break your teeth, again I couldn't eat it, they asked did I want another one!!! Jesus not if the food is going to be like this. That night, throwing up most of the night and into the morning, I left early, no sign of anyone at reception. I just left. I was disgusted with this place. I know it use to be good, but Jesus it's gotten bad.
Would not recommend this place to anyone.

We came to Monkstown for a quiet holiday and for that, The Bosun Hotel is quite good. The rooms are small but clean. The seaview rooms overlook a harbour filled with timber on the other side of "the river". The staff was very attentive and polite. The mattress was awful, way too firm, which caused restless sleep most nights.

For the first time in a long time I returned to the Bosun in Monkstown Co. Cork. Nickie ( owner) took my booking and notwithstanding the 10 years had passed he immediately identified me..always a good sign when the owner is that ‘ hands on’.
Quality, Service and Value is a simple way of saying the outstanding experience of staying and eating at the Bosun. Can’t recommend the Bosun more highly.

On a cold January afternoon we decided to pop in for a late lunch, 3 of us.
Lovely and warm inside, nice welcome front the owner.
Lovely and friendly server looked after us, orders placed and in a few minutes our food arrived, it was simply delicious.
Coffees afterwards was very good.
Overall a great experience and friendly staff.
Can't complain, definitely be back again.
Thanks for a great lunch.😃

I stayed for work for 2 nights and was so blown away by the brilliant customer service experienced. I left my charging unit and some other items behind and Don had them posted up to me at no charge. So thoughtful. The stay was very pleasant and the breakfast was lovely. Staff were fantastic.

The rooms and shower room are very small but clean. If you get the sea view and you stay over a weekend be prepared for a very very noisy evening and night, Stayed on a saturday night and the noise from the pub next door kept me awake till the early hours. Also the car park across the road is very busy and couldnt get parked. The. breakfast was good being freshly cooked and plenty of choice.
