We traveled from Kef to Reykjavik on a 10 day journey following a blog. We chose this hotel for the next to the last evening in Iceland. Ion was a disappointment. Check-in was very nice offering us sparkling wine & the staff at the front desk were lovely. I do have to say the hotel is a bit worn. Maybe...

Greetings from ION Adventure Hotel and thank you for taking your time to review your recent stay with us. Happy you mentioned our lovely reception staff! Our aim is to always to deliver a great guest experience all the time. I would therefore want to apologize that some of our service areas fell short of that goal and i assure...

First the good: Location near thingvellir, the power plant and sulfur smell didn't bother us. Hiking trails right behind the hotel. It felt remote yet you are still fairly close to the city. Northern Lights bar is beautiful and nice place to have a drink. The bad: the rooms are very small (even the premium rooms), the bathroom gets wet...

Thank you so much for taking your time to review your stay at Ion Adventure Hotel. We are happy you enjoyed our unique location and Northern Lights bar. I was saddened to hear about the mix up with your reservation and I have past it on to our management team involved so it will not occur again. Best regards, Halldór...

The first time I saw this hotel I knew that I was going to have an amazing experience and I wasn't disappointed! It looks like an At-At from Star Wars. The location and view was stunning, perched in the middle of nowhere close to a geothermal plant, a mountain and a huge lake. The outdoor pool is heated by the...

For the first few nights of our honeymoon (which would be 2 weeks driving Iceland) we decided to start things by pampering ourselves with one of icelands most expensive (the most expensive?) Hotels. We struggled to book any activities before arrival, but managed to battle through to a spa booking, which looked amazing from the website. We arrived in the...

I only stayed at this hotel for 1 night, but it was a night to remember. My parents came to pick me up from Reykjavik, where I stayed for my first night in Iceland, and we drove to the Ion hotel (with a quick pit stop at Blue Lagoon). It's very "off the beaten path" but the drive was beautiful....

Nice hotel, rooms small without many amenities for a "luxury" hotel. The Bar was nice, with great views. We mostly stayed here because we thought we'd be near many activities, but everything the hotel set up for us (which was slightly our fault, for booking activities so late), were a two hour drive away. If you are looking for a...

Yes, the photos of the hotel are very impressive and the architecture of it is exceptional. But that's about where it ends. In terms of room quality you'd get the same for about 1/3rd the price elsewhere. I had the upgraded room and it was actually pretty small. Room wasn't made up until 5pm, and the room service still had...

Booked two nights at this hotel as the last leg of our trip to relax before we leave Iceland. We were looking forward to this so-called luxury hotel. To our big disappointment, the room had a dirty half drunken beer glass and a fly in it. We told the receptionist and they offered us a new room which wasn't any...

We stayed here for two nights in October. It's a modern style hotel surrounded by stunning scenery. The first afternoon we hiked up the hill side behind the Ion and took photos of the surrounding views. Our hotel room was modern looking and clean. The bed was super comfortable. The whole area is so quiet and serene we slept soundly...

The room we had for 3 nights had a wonderful view, it was quiet and reasonable amenities. The restaurant had a good variety of choices for health conscious guests. The front desk staff were very helpful with suggestions as to local sights and opportunities. All of their recommendations were outstanding and interesting.
