This hotel has real character which we loved. The breakfast / bar area is very homely, although evening meals are not always available in winter. We were given directions to a local restaurant as an alternative option, so not a problem. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and recommended a great place to visit that was not on our...

29/1 I stayed in this guesthouse with friends but feeling was not good! There were 5 cabins for us 10 people to stay! That night was rather cold but the heater was just startled to work when we arrived! Therefore it took rather a long time to make the room warm! However we were woken up by too hot temperature!...

Had a comfortable stay here at Hunkubakker, the little wooden huts were very cute. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and was willing to help with any problems we had. There are some good views from the hut, especially if it's a clear day and it's very close to Fjadrargljufur Canyon, which has fantastic views! A must...

We stayed in a cabin for 3 which was rather small. Toilet is small, no fridge and TV or kitchen small dining table but a favourite choice for travellers as this place get full pretty fast. Wifi is near to the office but staff are friendly and helpful which are very wlecoming. Breakfast was included and the variety was pretty...

These cosy red cabins are located just outside of the town of Kirkjubaejarklaustur. The cabins had a nice, warm feel to them. The place had a free wifi only in the main building, but from time to time it had coverage in our cabin as well. The place has its own restaurant, but we decided to eat out at the...

Traveling as two couples, we found this hotel to be a perfect accommodation since we shared two bedrooms of one of Hunkubakkar's cabins. The cabin included two bedrooms which had their own washbasins and a european-sized bathroom. The beds were comfy and we really enjoyed the information provided by one of the members of the staff encouraging us to visit...

We stayed three nights to make some day-trips. Nice spacy cottages, no TV and breakfast in the main building where there's also Wifi. Lovely sheeps as neighbours. Just a few miles to the beautiful Fjaðrárgljúfur!

My wife and I found this place and were very pleased. Nice cozy cabin, a bit rustic, but definitely enough amenities for us. We had the one nearest the creek and a view from the neat front porch of the creek and hills covered by sheep. Really a nice farm setting wish we had more than one day. The staff...

Hunkubakkar consists of a collection of small but efficient stand-alone cottages in an idyllic setting. But real draw is the hostess who is warm and knowledgeable. She and her husband run the adjacent huge farm. We learned a lot about Iceland and its ways from her and were introduced to Einstock beer here, Iceland's most delicious brew.

It's a nice (but basic) accommodation in a beautiful setting (total greenery which sheeps around you). Rooms are in little huts/lodges. I think they come in different sizes either en-suite or shared bathroom. While it's a nice place to stay for a night, it is a bit overpriced (ISK 17,100). Rooms were clean but basic (no fridge, no TV, no...
