I came to Gytheio to spend few days relaxing and make a big mistake booking a room at Pantheon. The pictures of double room with full sea view are fooling you. You will see on the pictures a big balcony which does not exist, except maybe for the suites. You hardly seat 2 persons in the reality. Although do not expect to stay on the balcony in the morning. It is directly under the sun and there is no shade at all. The rooms do not offer anything special for their price. The noise from the street is vry high and you must keep the window closed. The people working at the reception are extremely unpleasant, something you do not expect from hotel employees. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody. Actually, the minute I felt good in this hotel is when I checked out. I will never go back and would not recommend it to anybody.

Dear Mr. Philip, I'm very sorry to know that your experience at Pantheon was unpleasant. I read carefully your review and I'm not sure what your real problem was. We have several room types and even the rooms within the same room type are not identical. There are many pictures for each room type showing the interior of the rooms, the bathrooms or the balcony. All balconies appear in the pictures. If you specifically wanted a big balcony, you could have booked one of our suites. You say that "the rooms do not offer anything special for their price", so I'm wondering what your expectation was. We offer a spacious and comfortable room with a comfortable bathroom and a balcony with sea view, located at a very central point of the town of Gythio. We've never pretended to offer something else or more than that. And we think that we offer one of the best value for money in the town. One of the main assets of our hotel is its position on the main harbour of Gythio, which besides its obvious advantages (central location, great view) brings a couple of drawbacks (noise, parking difficulty), which you should have considered and weighed before deciding to book. Finally, I was surprised to read that you totally disliked our staff, which I cannot explain because our front office guys are likeable and we normally have positive feedback on them. You don't mention anything specific, so I would really want to know what exactly bothered you. I'm sorry that you left with a bad feeling but your review does not mention anything specific we could try to improve.

A sea view junior suite is the room to get! On the fourth floor, ours had two double French doors opening on to a private 47 square meter terrace with an expansive view of the harbor and the Laconian Gulf. We watched the moon rise with a glass of wine, the sun rise with breakfast and slept a very comfortable night in the king size four-poster bed. Located mid-way on Gythio’s main harborside street, the Pantheon is a basic, but very pleasant, modern hotel. Check-in was friendly; check out was efficient. A full-size elevator got us to our floor. Perhaps because of Covid, the room amenities were spare: no coffee service or toiletries. But there are the basics of a fridge, hair dryer, safe, excellent closet space, and bedside outlets. Also because of the virus, buffets are prohibited. You place your breakfast order the night before and it is served in the dining gallery on a tray at your designated time. We took ours up to the room. Parking is on the street. It’s an easy walk to all the recommended restaurants.

We booked this hotel en route to Gytheio and were delighted with it. The rooms were immaculate and provided everything we needed. Excellent bathrooms and terraces overlooking the port. The staff was very helpful when we said we wanted to go to a beach. The lady at the front desk gave us extra towels and told us how to find a nice public beach. The town was small but charming.

We were based here for a group walking holiday and all had sea views with balconies. Lower floors had small balconies and higher floors had smaller rooms with very large balconies. Self service breakfast was plentiful including eggs, but the coffee was awful - just coloured water. The selection of jams looked good but had very little fruit taste. The yogurt was good Greek yogurt but the honey I was told was just sugar syrup which is terrible to serve in a country so known for it's honey. The cheese I imagine was the cheapest available as it didn't taste or have the consistency of a dairy product, and I steered clear of the cold 'meat' on offer. Some of us took to buying breakfast from the cafe next door. Apart from this the hotel was fine and it is great value. It just seemed to me that if they simplified their breakfast offering they could offer proper coffee and jams. Another way they could cut costs is by not changing towels every single day. That is something almost all hotels have stopped doing nowadays and is seen as irresponsible for the environment.

The hotel looks nice and has a central location at the waterfront. The room was small, but we had decided to take a smaller room as we only staid two days. The bathroom however was quite spacious, had unfortunately a little mold in it and when showering we flooded the bathroom. The balcony was not furnished as stated in the room description and was really small. Breakfast was adequate and staff at breakfast was very nice and helpful. Also the reception was very good. At checkout however the clerk was rude as we had prepaid and he did not realize we had. Altogether and hotel which could be good, but with all the above things mentioned only average.
