Varmasti voisin vierailla uudestaankin.
Soltorp Eco Lodge is perfect if you want to get away from it all (but within spitting distance of a town). It's a good 45-minute walk from the centre of Porvoo, but it's tucked away into a world of its own. I'd call this 'soft eco' with electricity, non-eco toilets etc... but it is bare bones in the most charming way. Beds not so comfortable but the use of the kitchen is fantastic, and there's a supermarket within a 20 minute walk. And it is incredible, incredible value: very likely a third of the price you'd pay for anywhere else around Porvoo. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Nice location if you have a car. Or you can rent a bike and go to the old town (3-4km). Very good facilities, everything was clean and organized. Small but cosy rooms. Nice kitchen. Good value for money.
Soltorp was a super adorable place in a really pleasant environment. The red accommodation house was very charming and our double bedroom was cute as a button. We didn't feel that the noise was a problem as complained often in the comments of the hotel booking sites. This is maybe because we stayed on the 2nd floor so the creaking floor didn't cause problems. In our opinion it's obvious that an old house only livable in summertime is not completely soundproofed. It's part of the charm. All in all the place was very tidy and clean. The garden is very nice, too, and we enjoyed it playing badminton and having barbecue in a well-equipped wood-fire grill place. We also picked blueberries and wild strawberries just next to the garden. We rented bikes for 5 euros per day and the price is correct for old creaky (but well working) bikes that went well with the place's style. The bikes are however not suitable for long day trips. For nearby activities there is a pretty lake not far with a free boat service to cross the lake to a nice beach. We were wondering why the place is named "eco lodge". If this is intended to mean "ecological" we don't think this to be justified as there was not even the possibility to recycle / sort the garbage in the common kitchen. However, recycling and sorting everything is as normal to a Finn as brushing one's teeth. We felt that the ecological argument was in this case an unjustified selling trick. We see too often "ecological" being used in marketing as soon as there is some forest nearby and the walls made of wood. "Eco" could refer to cheapness as well, though, and in this case it makes already more sense. But still, it's not that cheap considering that there is no breakfast or towels (and for towels it was not mentioned in the reservation description) included in the price. There are of course things to improve as the place hasn't been running for too long time yet, and considering this Soltorp has only little negative points.…
Very cozy place to stay on the way or visiting city of Porvoo. Rooms are tiny, showers are shared, but peaceful and relaxing surrounded by big yard and woods. Only 3km to downtown, which can be driven by bicycles available at house. Many outdoor activities available, lake beach at bicycle distance (1,5km). Or just sitting in the garden listening to birds and watching clouds sailing above. Staff is very helpful and helping in every turn. Just renewed and open only in summertime at the moment. VERY reasonable priced. I warmly recommend.
