Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel has deteriorated since 2022. No staff at the reception, code lock which gives a sad experience to the old hotel. Stayed there for four nights, no cleaning or emptying of wastebasket/sanitary container in the toilet during those days.
Will return to Seurahovi when they improve their concept.

Good location, in centre of Porvoo.
Polite and helpful customer service, but not wearing masks properly all the time.
Room was messy, towels were dirty or maybe there was stains, that didn't go away in washingmachine.
Breakfast was really good.

The hotel needs updating in all respects. The common areas and hotel rooms are run down and the beds are really old. Breakfast disappointing, for example no hot food. It's a pity, because the location is good and there are only a couple of hotels in the center of Porvoo.

This is, without doubt, the second worst hotel I have every stayed at. Outside and inside, the hotel looked like an abandoned building waiting to be demolished. The hotel room was OK size-wise, but neither the room nor the bathroom seems to have been cleaned properly for the last 10 years. The hallways were even worse, with lots of dust and dirt. Breakfast was a joke, with almost nothing to choose from and the only types of bread they offered were wrapped in plastic and looked like the cheapest type you could get at the cheapest discount store possible. Service was non-existent, the only person we saw during our entire stay was a man taking out the dishes from the breakfast room. As with everything else, clearing off the table was self-service based. Checking in was even worse. We parked outside, carried all our stuff to the front door, just to find it closed, with a poster telling us to use the back door on the other side of the building. That door was closed as well. Calling the hotel, l talked to a lady that informed me that she had sent a code to the doors to the wrong number. She re-sent it, and I got it. But, it was only valid after 4PM, and since the hotel neither had a reception nor a baggage room, we had to carry all the bags around the hotel again and back to the car. Then off to park the car, and access the hotel later. All in all, my advice is to avoid this hotel.

Well-located close to the center of Porvoo, this hotel offers an excellent breakfast with plenty of options: juice and coffee, oatmeal and yogurt, eggs, karjalanpiirakka (Karelian pies), cheese, sausages, and more. Clean and spacious room, parking available underneath the hotel. Everything is automated (check-in instructions are sent via email) and we didn't see any staff members while there.

Poor customer service (phone service, apparently from another city), no reception. Early access not possible. Hotel was noisy (by other guests and a dog).

The restaurant was run by another owner. They saved the trip.

Porvoo is really nice, especially the Old Town!

Hotel has not been updated. Everything is old and smells. Our room had dust and a dirty fridge. There is no staff, you get a code for the doors.
Breakfast is poor and lame.
The hotel has a good location, thats the only good thing. Otherwise there is no value for the money.

There is no longer staff (since 1.6.2023). Breakfast mon-thu until 9.30. Very disappointing that this info has not been updated to hotel info (eg hotels.com). Because of lack of reception, you are not able to store luggage. Check in is at 16 and check out 11. :(

The location of this hotel is good in the centre next to the bus station and a short walk to the Old Town. However, that's probably the only good thing! This Hotel is actually a nightclub and I would not want to stay here whilst the night club is open. Breakfast was poor. When the nightclub is not open, the bar does not serve drinks and there is no restaraunt. The rooms are OK if you are just sleeping there, but they are very, very basic.

My husband and I stayed one night at the Seurahovi in Porvoo in June 2011. Because many of the hotels in Porvoo are very expensive and Seurahovi's price was quite affordable compared to them, we decided to stay here.

The location is great, right next to the bus station. It's also just a short walk away from the lovely Old Town and the riverside's restaurants. There's a beautiful cafe just opposite at the other side of the square and even the theater is nearby.

But that's all this hotel has going for it. When you walk in, you will be greeted by a sight that is more suited for a nightclub than a hotel. But guess what, it doubles as the entrance to the nightclub which opens in the evenings! You have to walk up stairs, I did not see a lift anywhere and people were struggling to get their strollers and suitcases up the staircase.

At the top of the stairs you will find the reception. And you'll notice from all the bottles and the decor that the reception also works as a bar in the evenings! The whole area is black and decorated in a nightclubby way. You can find your way to your room by following black signs with red letters saying ROOMS - sort of reminds you of a bordel. You can take the lift up to you room from the reception after walking through a long corridor.

They do not have key cards, instead you will use an oldfashioned key to open (and remember to lock!) your room. The decor in the room was ok, but the tables and chairs were ancient and really run down. There was a new plasma tv though. The room was clean and the bed was comfy enough. The bathroom had been refurbished, so that was ok too.

In the evening we went out with friends for dinner and drinks and when we came back we were greeted by a long queue of drunken 18 year olds trying to get into the nightclub!! I managed to weave us past the queue and tell the doorman that we'd like to go to sleep. He was very polite and let us in but once we got up the stairs what had been the reception in the daytime was now a disco and it was packed with people and the music was blaring (of course, since it was a nightclub now). We had to SQUEEZE into the crowd and make our way slowly to the door which led to the rooms. Quite disturbing!

As you can imagine, the noise of the music was very loud even in the room but thankfully we were so tired that we managed to sleep. It could be quite a problem for a light sleeper though.

The worst part of our stay was when we went down in the morning to the reception area where breakfast was served we were greeted with the smell of vomit! Of course it had been cleaned up after the night's partying but the smell hadn't dissapeared anywhere. The breakfast was good enought but as you can imagine it's quite unappetizing eating while smelling puke around you!! Also there are no windows in this area and it would be nice to get some light from outside, at least in the morning!

There's no real baggage storage, we were just told to leave our bag where in the cloakroom which is an open ungarded space. Thankfully our bag was still there when we arrived.

Do take the time to visit Porvoo if you are on holiday in Finland - it's the cutest town in the whole country! There are great restaurants around and it really comes alive in the summer with outdoor cafes and terraces. But do think twice about this hotel..
