Great place. No bugs, great food, good location. Only thing is that it's so secluded that it's costs a lot to get around. We stayed 4 nights and for 2 nights we were the only ones there. Be aware of extra charges! We got a ride from airport to hotel and back and they charged a tip of 10 percent!...

i had my concerns about this place before going as i was worried about a emerging country like this but it totally exceeded my expectations. we were there with our 3 kids and took the epic 2 bedroom hilltop villa. It has a huge disappearing edge pool, outdoor sitting rooms. Loads of covered potchs looking over the lake and 3...

I had a business meeting here and rented 3 rooms and they were all exceptional! The setting is so peaceful and away from it all. It is a self contained paradise. You are not in town but a short distance out of town high up on the side of the lake. This place is a super romantic getaway and can...

Nothing we can criticise about this hotel, except perhaps that it's a long way from Panajachel, or 'Gringotenango' as it is also known. This, on reflection, is probably a good thing. The hotel has all the little details you expect from truly special places, great cosmetics in the bathroom, lots of hot water, attentive staff, even hot water bottles tucked...

I stayed at the Casa Palopo in November 2007, and chose this place because, at the time, there was nothing that came close to it in terms of the setting and amenities. What I remember four years later is how happy I felt staying there because of the impressive view and the tranquility. I have stayed at places that give...

First things first: a disclaimer. I purchased my 3-night stay on Groupon -- a great deal that I hope comes up again, since I'm not sure I could afford to stay here otherwise. This is a lovely, charmingly-appointed gem in a small, isolated pueblo on beautiful Lake Atitlan. I stayed in Junior Suite (#3), which has its own terrace with...

I'm writing this review on our last night here at Casa Palopo. The ambiance is second to none - cozy, warm, and with little touches that make you feel you are staying at a hotel that should charge more than it is. The views alone are worth a million dollars. The service has been great but subdued (they don't hover)....

Casa Polopo is a small, remote place that is perfect for a comfortable and tranquil escape. We went for our honeymoon and are SOOO glad we did. It boasts breathtaking views, large rooms with private outdoor patios, a great little restaurant, and wonderful service. It is not really close to anything, but you can move around by tuktuk or by...

We stayed here for 2 nights in August, a very quiet time for Guatemalan tourism. The hotel has a wonderful location above Lake Atitlan, and every room has a view of the lake. They are good sized, clean and comfortable and ours had an outdoor terrace which was candlelit in the evening. The restaurant also overlooks the lake but the...

We stayed here in January 2011. The ride from Antigua to the Lake was very long, but of course at no fault of the hotel. When we arrived there had been a mistake regarding the room we had booked. Somehow there had been some miscommunication amongst myself and staff as to the room we wanted. As a result, the room...
