I debated about where to stay in the Lake Atitlan region during our Guatemala vacation. Casa Palopo receives excellent reviews and press, but I was worried that its small size (just 7 rooms) would feel too much like a bed-and-breakfast to us, so I chose a master suite at Hotel Atitlan (which was a surprisingly beautiful room in an idyllic...

This was my first visit to lake Atitlan and 3rd trip to Guatemala. This hotel was recommended by one of my college friends who lives in Guatemala City. We were picked up from the airport and got a ride directly to the hotel. They even picked us up snacks and drinks for the road trip. Apon arrival it was raining...

I would say that the staff is vey nice and attentive, but the hotel , staying at room 01 is VERY MUCH overpriced ! We paid $ 500 and added taxes for one night and scheduled 3 nights. We left after two nights stay because one one other room in this 7 room hotel was located. Dinner was average as...

The views from the terrace are stunning and constantly changing. Three volcanoes beckon exploration. The food is scrumptious , I will not soon forget eggs Benedict served outside. Jennifer is a delightful host, always cheerful and helpful. She made our trip.

Stayed here for a couple of days in January 2017. Stunning location and great food, but as with any hotel, essentially it comes down to the staff. Jiff, the manager was a terrific hostess, always attentive and willing to offer help. Memorable.

Casa Palopo offers the traveler a safe and comfortable respite. The place is small and intimate with a beautiful view of Lake Attilan and its surrounds. It is tastefully furnished with comfortable beds, great linens, and spacious rooms. The food is delicious, the service excellent, and the staff is very helpful with whatever you want to do. The manager, Jennifer,...

Set on a hillside, each of the few rooms has a large patio overlooking the lake. The property is a large house with an annexe, sumptuously furnished, with just a few large rooms. The restaurant is excellent. We bought the hotel as part of a tour so don't know the price, probably not cheap but certainly a memorable place to...

With incredible views and artful decor, this restaurant could get away with serving tourist food. Instead, it offers creative cooking and excellent service. Let me repeat, the service was truly a cut above. The food was served surprisingly quickly and stylishly. The menu is fairly short but combines local flavors with lighter preparation styles.

This is a small but absolutely charming hotel. It has a good restaurant, a large and comfortable sitting room with a fire that does get lit every evening, a superb terrace overlooking Lake Atitlan, and a real feeling of warmth from all the staff. We stayed for three nights in a large, well-appointed bedroom with picture windows and its own...
