My buddy and I had a one-night stopover in San Isidro and chose the Zima. The hotel is located off a quiet street well away from the main highway so it was very quiet. The reception staff were pleasant and efficient. The grounds and the pool are attractive and kept tidy and clean. The breakfast service was somewhat limited but the meal itself was very well prepared and very tasty. Service was excellent. Our room was average for the price. It was very clean and the two beds were comfortable. The A/C functioned well. The shower uses an electric heater which some find scary but i just found a tad slow to heat. We were short a couple of towels but when we asked, they were quickly provided. TV had multiple spanish language channels and CNN. But that seems to be the norm throughout Costa Rica. We had room 21 and my main complaint is that it was very dark. The one window provides very little light into the L-shaped room. This was Ok for one night but would be an issue for a multi-night stay. There are not a lot of spots in San Isidro but the Zima is probably one of the better choices for a short stay.…
Make sure you ask for a room away from main road as otherwise you won't sleep and you can't open the window as there's a running drain outside that smells, so you wont want to open the curtains either as the view of a tatty yard is not nice. Had to use air con all night to drown out the sound of huge trucks and their hissing , whining brakes. Consequently I developed loss of voice and lung problem from the bacteria. Bed was comfy, big bathroom that smelt of drains. All in all an unpleasant experience , as I explained at reception when we left. Nice staff and restaurant good enough. Sweet pool. We just had the worst room I think.
This hotel is located within walking distance of everything in downtown San Isidro but it is quiet. The parking is adequate & the room updated. The breakfast was excellent & we will look forward to trying dinner next time we stay there. There is wifi in the room but it is not very good. The staff was very nice.
We had 2 beautifully appointed rooms, next to one another, in a lovely garden setting - with a double "swing seat" right outside. A very welcome swim in the small but very clean pool, and an excellent dinner and breakfast. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Perfect for an overnight stay en route to the south
Bed was small (queen maybe) and hard. Room was small, no mini fridge. View from room was bad. Free breakfast was great. For the price, we expected better compared to other places we had stayed at, on our trip through Costa Rica.
Hotel is in a good location near but not in the town center. There was no gym despite ad saying so. Booked queen bed and for a double bed. Hard as concrete mattress. Electric in bathroom didn’t work. Light and outlet pool and restaurant was very nice. Grounds were nice also
Very helpful staff. The restaurant is very good, especially the Italian dishes. Clean, large, comfortable rooms. Good breakfast alternatives. There is a small pool to enjoy. Quiet location which needs some navigation to find.
This is a good, modern hotel in a fairly large and busy commercial center of Costa Rica. It is set off the main street a bit but it is convenient to shopping and restaurants. The staff was very helpful and the food and service at the restaurant was good.
Stayed at this hotel for 10 days during end of Dec to early January. Location of hotel is just off the main hwy in San Isidro down a small side street which makes for a quiet stay. Stayed in the junior suit on the second floor......large and spacious room with very comfortable bed - loved it! Breakfast is included in the price of the room and enjoyed the fresh fruit and coffee each morning. The hotel staff is great and they showed a real interest in our Costa Rican experience. My wife is from Costa Rica but hadn't been back in 19 years. I can not say enough about how much we loved this hotel!! We even met the owner and we complimented him on running such a nice place. As a business owner myself, we appreciate when others see how hard we work to make others (customers) happy!!
My husband and i stayed at the Best Western Zima for 3 nights while exploring some of the birding hotspots of San Vito. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of the city, but only a short drive from Las Quebradas Nature Reserve and about 30 minutes from the wonderful Los Cusingos, an excellent private reserve with reliable sightings of the brilliant Turquoise Cotinga, one of Costa Rica's most sought-after bird species. Guides can be hired at Los Cusingos to locate this incredible bird. Immaculately clean and modern, the Best Western is an inviting respite from days of birding in the surrounding countryside. We booked the junior suite on the 2nd floor which was a huge room with excellent air conditioning, large bathroom, two comfortable queen beds and ample space to put all of our stuff. We paid a AAA rate of $260 for 3 nights. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and though not a buffet, there is a choice of four menu combos that were adequately filling. The best part of breakfast, though, is watching the birds come to the fruit feeders for their breakfast! We saw Golden-hooded, Scarlet-rumped, Blue-gray and Summer Tanagers, Red-legged Honeycreepers and other colorful beauties. The staff at the Best Western was top-notch -- especially the friendly man at check-in and the overnight front-desk receptionist who addressed and quelled a situation we had with noisy neighbors. The restaurant staff was always polite and attentive, clearing away our dishes and refilling our coffee cups when needed. This was our 6th trip to Costa Rica -- the Best Western Zima is definitely a spot we'll return to on a future trip!…
