was traveling from Monteverde to the Tabacon Hot Springs, after driving on bumpy dirt roads for over an hour we spotted the Micro Brewery sign so we decided to stop, very friendly staff greeted us and gave us a flight of beers to try, we also had lunch which was very good, the restaurant is up on a hill overlooking...

Stopped for beers and appetizers one night. The beers were all quite good, the red ale has an especially unique flavor blend. Also, the fact you could fill up a "growler"(two 1 liter sized plastic bottles) made the trip worth it. The staff was friendly and attentive, although the owner was quite intoxicated and making a spectacle of himself all...

We had a great time at the restaurant where we overlooked the lake, sampled their beer and had a wonderful meal. We shared the guacamole and a burger. Both were fabulous. We even took two 'growlers' of beer with us for later in the trip. The staff was fabulous and very attentive. The food took a bit longer than expected...

We had been staying at a resort north of lake Arenal and decided to take the drive to have dinner here. This was back when it was the Volcano Brewery. The drive took about two hours and was quite the adventure. There was trees down in the road and we had no GPS. By the time we had gotten there...

We didn't stay, just had some beers. A flight of all the beers is 1000 colones and each one is 1000, great prices. I have the stout and my hubby had the dunkel. They server them with glasses from the freezer, awesome touch. Would come back to eat for sure just to have something acompany the beer ;)

Coming from Montana, where there is a brewery every 5 minutes, we have become rather particular when it comes to beer. And the national beers in Central America have left us wanting something else. Lake Arenal Brewery delivers! We were given a flight to sample all their beers. They were all good, but we were partial to the stout, the...

This was a great find after the long drive from the coast. I loved the beer ! IPA and Pale Ale and the nachos were tasty. The view of the lake was great. We could see wind surfers. My wife saw a monkey roaming the grounds.

First and very likely the last time I'd stay here. I've been told it was better in the past and offered a beautiful view of Lake Arenal. Which is the only thing that gets a thumbs up. Its in great need of major updates. Rooms are dated and everywhere else including the common area/dining. Unless that is what this place...

We booked this hotel last-minute as a stop between the Pacific coach beaches and the Arenal area. What a gem on the south end of Lake Arenal! We arrived during a gale and torrential rainstorm and spent the afternoon next to a cozy fire drinking superb (and inexpensive) microbrews, watching the storm from behind the wall of windows in the...

We didn't spend the night here, so this is not a review of the hotel accommodations (although the pool and view looked nice). We stopped in on our way to Arenal Volcano and, after a few days of drinking Imperial and the other ultra-bland, watery beers of Costa Rica, this place seemed like an oasis beer-wise. I particularly enjoyed the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Is the crown jewel of a 15-acre organic farm and world-renowned green-energy education center in Northern Costa Rica. With dramatic red-ochre pillars and colorful walls adorned with hand-painted frescos, the 21-room hotel overlooks hundreds of acres of Costa Rica's protected jungle and the rainbow shores of beautiful Lake Arenal. Our closest neighbors are toucans and parrots, howler monkeys, sloths, armadillos and occasionally, wild cats such as the Puma Jaguarondi. Also home to Costa Rica's first microbrewery, Lake Arenal Hotel serves farm-fresh food at its on-site restaurant, La Huerta, with an international menu. Come enjoy the relaxed ambience, delicious food and what many of our customers say is the "best beer in Costa Rica" produced on-site by Lake Arenal Brewery. A tennis court, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and fully-equipped classroom are just some of the hotel's amenities. Two flat-screen TVs in the bar/restaurant and free high-speed wifi throughout the facilities make your stay at Lake Arenal Hotel modern and comfortable. Just one-and-a-half hours from Liberia Airport and three hours from the San Jose Airport, Lake Arenal Hotel offers a wide variety of on-site activities and day-tours, including waterfall hikes, horseback riding, sailing trips, kite-boarding lessons, river rafting, zip-lining, rappelling and day-trips to the nearby volcanoes and hot springs. ... more   less
