The restaurant was painfully slow. Drinks took almost 30 minutes. It seems that they only had one server. Unless you have many hours I would pass. The location is nice but really they aren’t ready to operate a restaurant. Lowest rating I have ever given establishment.
Being a local myself, I can't judge too hard. The place has nice kept gardens and it's right next to Arenal Lake but you get what you paid for. The rooms are spacious and clean but very very simple. The bed is comfortable. No AC so the fan may not be enough when the day is hot. The pool is very small (about the size of a Chevrolet Tahoe). You put six kids in there and you can forget about enjoying the pool. The place seems to be family owned so the personal is probably somebody's niece or sister/brother,etc. The receptionist is also the restaurant bartender/cashier (nice guy). The restaurant food is nice by the way, and prices are good !! The port area is just black sand with no pedestrian walkways, only some tiny piece of wood. Not safe for elders. You step downhill at your own risk (probably because the port area does not belong to the hotel, is government property). There is a lot of boat and water activities and the Lake scenery is awesome !! So ... If you are on a really tight budget, and can keep your balance walking 20 meters downhill stepping on rocks, grass and sand, here you will sleep on a clean room and enjoy nice lunch inexpensive food, but if you need the basic 'standards' of for example, a Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Best Western type hotels, better look for something else to enjoy your rest, after a bunch of cool activities down the Arenal Lake. …
Room is basic. No A/C. Just a little fan for the entire room. Cleaning service is poor. Not enough towels. Not enough soap. No champu. Not enough toilet paper Nice view. Restaurant is good in general. Ran out of ceviche several days, and not enough beans for gallo pinto. No fish at all. Chifrijo is fake. Usign snack type of pork. No real pork meat. Spaguetti, ceviche and nachos strongly recommended. Nice lake acces for my jetski and kayak. Nice parking place. Lack of customer service in general. Nice gardens. Good place to stay one night only and have fun in the lake. No more than that. Dont forget to visit Tilaran downtown.
We stayed here for two nights while wakeboarding with Flyzone-CR.com The rooms have a cabin like feel to them. They were clean and well priced but the beds were a little stiff for my taste. The rooms had cable TV and hot water in the showers. At night the area was very dark and felt somewhat isolated but I guess that might be a plus for some people. The favorite part of the hotel, aside from the access to the wakeboarding, was the pool and restaurant. The pool was pretty nice and even had a waterslide. The restaurant was great with live music at night, very decent food and good drink selection. In the end, I would recommend this hotel, it was convenient for our wakeboarding tour, clean and safe rooms and nice on site restaurant.
